About 33THROWDOWN

Beginning in 2002 the label initially set out to support the underground styles of Cut n'Paste and Edit mixes as pioneered by Double Dee & Steinski, The Latin Rascals and Coldcut. The first release on the label (TTT-001) came from DJ Dren and although it's a relatively new mastermix it still featured in the old school bible "The Rap Records" written and compiled by Freddy Fresh. Release number two "Locked Into The Boss(Part One & Two)" by Rockmaster Russ aka MP3 Genius was a tribute to the hip hop & electro days of DJ Mike Allen and is now the most sought after and rarest of all the 33TD back catalogue. 2003 saw the arrival of The Returner with his "The Return Of The Returner EP" (TTT-003). Co-written and produced by none other than the amazing Mark Pritchard, a respected artist credited with many successful projects including Reload, Global Communication, Jedi Knights, Harmonic 33 and more recently Troubleman. His 6 track throwdown included 2 tough sounding downbeat electro tunes amongst the other breaks and beats. Dren & MP3 Genius teamed up for TTT-004. Dren provided "Old Skoolin'(Part Two)" with MP3 Genius' cut, "Genius At Work (Extended Throwdown Mix)" on the flipside. This was an extended version of an earlier release on B Boy Beats & Pieces label. Si Spex, former member of UK hip hop production team The Creators and MCM from the legendary old school UK Caveman crew delivered an all time classic hip hop track "Back Again" on TTT-005 while the b-side featured 3 fat instrumental numbers from the awesome Harmonic 33. In 2005 we made it to our 6th vinyl release and signed Ictus. Again the release combined electro and breakbeat tracks as on TTT-003 but this time the BPM was notched up and featured in one of the last BBC Radio 1 John Peel Sessions! TTT-007 is another two artist combo, this time it's The Saxon Scoundrels, top UK cut n'pasters alongside Don Don Funk. With Dren providing the beats Don Don spits some relentless and clever rhymes in his own unique style while the Scoundrels mash up the breaks on the reverse. Our 1st Album comes from 'Sign 13' on an experimental old skool/new skool electro vibe. TTT-CD02 is a mental collection of back catalogue rarities and new remixes including some new exclusives from Freddy Fresh, Shaka B and Razorcuts.

We had 'Don't Curse the Sun' mastered by a guy named Bunt who has mastered many great records including some by Morrissey, the Magic Numbers, and Thom York's latest amongst others. We had the drums have been properly recorded first, and now we are going through all the tunes in the same way to finish them up. Our other news of the moment is about Garageband.com. We are up at no.27 in the alt pop charts(no.1 in our round) and so they are going to promote us to Clear Channel radio stations across the USA. We will have a list of stations on our page within a couple of weeks! Meanwhile we'd love to hear what you think of our final version of 'Dont Curse the Sun' and of the other 3 tunes.
