In 1935, David P. Carter stepped into the radio station WBAP in Ft. Worth, Texas with his children three of his eldest children to audition to be Bewley Mills Chuck Wagon Gang. For 20 years, five days a week, one could hear the familiar strum of Jim's guitar and soulful voices Rose, Anna, Jim, and Dad Carter as they came across the airways covering many states throughout the United States. Dad Carter always insisted on a clear, uncluttered, four part harmony, mixed quartet with just a minimum of string accompaniment.
A great 71 yr tradition is continuing still today. If you haven't heard The Chuck Wagon Gang of the 21st century, you will be amazed as they transport you to another time and place when life wasn't so hectic and things just seemed more simple. One thing that has not changed is the mission of the group. The Gang hopes to bring the message of hope and salvation to a weary and uncertian world. Today's group sounds no different when it comes to the distinctive and unique sound. Of course, they are still singing those 'old' songs the way Dad Carter intended. "Sing the old songs and sing 'em like I taught you."
The current group consists of Dave Emery, Shaye Truax, Julie Hudson, Stan Hill, and Penny Greene. Harold Timmons is marketing director.

It was wonderful getting to meet you all and sing with you as well. The Cruise even though it was late and the sound was off was a true success because we did get to see at least one soul saved that I know of. May God continue to bless you all in what you do. Take Care and God Bless!!
