A zenekar teljes véletlenségböl Nyíregyházán, a Tanárképzö Föiskolán alakult. Az alapítók: Hajdú Sándor és Jánvári György, akik egyetlen koncert miatt toboroztak a tanszékröl zenészeket. A zenekar elsö koncertje után továbbra is együtt maradt és a Herman Jam névvel zenélt tovább.
2005 szeptemberében megszületett az elsö saját szám, Szabadság ösvénye címmel. Egy idöre visszavonult a zenekar. 2006 márciusában a Bikini elözenakaraként Nyíregyházán debütáltak a saját számokból új névvel: Funk & Cream. Telt az idö, és a zeneszámok teljes átdolgozására került sor. Egy sajátságosnak mondható, kellöen finom zene született. Mivel mindig is volt zenei hiányérzet, a zenekar tovább bövült, és csatlakozott Megyesi Antal (perka) és Dinó István (conga), illetve fúvós és vokál szekció.
Ezzel az új felállással 2007 májusában ismételten Nyíregyházán léptek színpadra. Még e hónapban egy tehetségkutatón vett részt a zenekar, melynek végeredménye a 2. helyezés, amellyel elkészülhetett egy 3 számos demo anyag.

Ismételt csavar következett: a demo lemez és a zenekar neve végérvényesen Popul-Arts lett.

The group is formed in the College of Nyíregyháza by chance. The charter members are Hajdú Sándor and Jánvári György who rescuited musicians from the department for one gig. After the concert, the band stayed together and played under the name Herman Jam.
Their own first song was born in the September of 2005 with the title: The path of freedom. They debuted with their own songs as the commencing group of Bikini. They had a new name: Funk & Cream. Time passed and the rewriting of the songs happened. A characteristic, adequatly fine music was born. Because there were always a scantiness of music, the group growed and Megyesi Antal (percusions) and Dinó István (conga) joined or rather winds and vocal section.
With this set-up, the band went on to stage again in Nyíregyháza in the May of 2007. They took part in a talent spotter competition in that month and the result was the 2nd place with which they could make a demo record with three tracks.

A new twist happened: the name of the album and band became Popul-Arts irrevocably.
