Bio
I'm not currently doing anything as a solo artist but please do check out Commie Faggots (see top friends) - a project i've been developing with MojoPixy. Of all my songs and performances, the ones i've done as one half of commie faggots are what i feel proudest of.................................................................................................................................................... The widget below has most of my songs, at least most of the ones i've got round to recording, dating back to 2001 when i was 17. Some of those early ones, in my opinion, are iredeemably shite, but i've kept them cos some people might get something from them and i believe bad art can sometimes teach us just as much as the good stuff. i've put it on random so you might wanna fish around to see what you like, the titles might help, or in some cases they don't indicate much at all...happy listening :) actual albums coming soon..................................................................................................................... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .................... please come and visit me at reverbnation - pretty soon reverbnation's gonna overtake myspace as the primary way arists promote themselves on the net............... ................................. r.chee is serious, angry, gentle and likes to have a laugh. he has dubious personal hygeine. he likes speaking about himself in the third person cos it makes him sound important....... i am political in the loosest sense of the word; i believe in the need for the "revolution of everyday life" put forward by the situationists ...... i like to think i'm open-minded, and whilst i have some quite firm opinions, i will add and accept most requests from people who don't share my views (as long as you have the manners to send a message with your request) cos i don't want to only hear from people who think the same way as me ...... ...... ..................................................................................................................................but if you are an advertiser or promoter; before inviting me to submit a song to your "mars radio show" or any corporate branding excercise involving my songs, please watch this recording from bill hicks which will explain why i'm not interested...................................................................................................... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. the more i think about it, the more i think my philosophy for life can be condensed into these two words, "be kind." In general, i love people, especially strange, funny, genuine, kind and honest people; talent is a bonus but not so important for me; passion and individuality are more what i'm looking for......in a liberated society we'd all be artists, i really believe that... there's lots of pretty music on myspace about broken hearts which i do like when i'm in the mood but alot of it i find indestinguishable. if you're a musician i want to hear some personality; something that would make me want to meet you in real life... i spend as much time on people here as they do on me........um, was i meant to be talking about my illustrious career as a musician here? fuck that; i'm a teacher for a living! here's my take on teaching primary colours to secondary school children; .. .. .. .. .. .. .. whilst this page is set up as a "band profile" i wanna use it as a more general creative/political outlet. it has songs for sure, but also intermittent attempts at blogging, and visual art, including videos. i really don't see the point in setting up a separate page for each thing i do...in any case, it's the "message" that's important to me, the medium is subserviant to that........... ....................also please check my pics, use them in any way you want, and let me know what you think of them too.... please bear in mind that the opinions in them are not necessarily my own - it's more about juxtaposing clashing opinions, or joining opinions with aesthetics that contradict them, in order to get the viewer to consider, and maybe re-assess their own opinions...anyway, here's a few of them, the rest are in the pics section ............ ...... ...... if you think i'd like your stuff give me a shout cos i'm bored of famous people's music right now..oh, and if you hadn't guessed, i don't just add bands, alot of my favorite people on here aren't musicians...archiexx................................................................................................................. p.s; if you hadn't noticed, i'm not particularly keen on the owner of myspace; mr.murdoch, who owns most of the media pumping out the lies that took us into war and keep the poor poor. if you haven't had the pleasure of meeting him, here he is (he's also on my top friends :) ) ...... ...... .. ............Myspace Layouts.. - ..Image Hosting.. - ..Comments.... "you thought you had us tuned into your frequency murdoch, but your plan's a failure, so piss off now, fuck off back to australia" -

Influences
The first and foremost influence on my life is cheese, as i try to expain with this video: .. .. .. .. .. .. ..Seriously though, bare with me; i'm having trouble being succinct :) It's not very rock'n'roll to write an essay to describe your influences but then I'm not really a wannabe rock star ...............Before fascinating you with the usual telephone-directory style list of musicians i just want to repeat the blindingly obvious fact that music comes from our experience of life itself just as much as from other music. No one only sits and listens to songs all day, (as much as that might appeal sometimes!). For me, my songs come mainly from what i find exciting (like my involvement in the anti-capitalist movement and the power of imagination when it's let loose), what i find funny, (cheese, sex, the bnp) what makes me mad,(cheese, the bnp, exploitation, mean-ness, beaurocrats, war and all them naughty things) and people who help me clarify the above. Karl marx is one of these people, though i want to stress that like he himself said, "i am not a marxist". In fact i think alot of so called marxists could do with actually applying dialectics to the times we live in now, and move on from the 19th century. ..................................................................................................................................................... Reading george orwell changed my way of looking at life completely and for that i'll always be grateful. ...... More than any writers and activists, though, i'm influenced by the situationists, who are similar to orwell but more optimistic and even more insightful . the best intro to their ideas, according to me, is the "situationist international anthology", but you can also find all their stuff online if you copy and paste this link onto your browser; www.cddc.vt.edu/sionline/. Then there's ken knabb, who is influenced by the situationists but is less obnoxious and macho, and far more accessible, check him out ..here................................ As well as the above I take lessons from anyone who isn't an ego-maniac and is genuinely trying to communicate something important that others can relate to (i think humour is very important, especially if it's about serious things; like this vid for "9/11 blues" by riz mc.............................................................................................. .. .. .. .. .. .. or for something topical, how about this brilliant, incisive parody of "band aid"; "bank aid"; .. .. .. .. .. .. ...................................................... or "i fought the lloyds" by oystar; .. .. .. .. .. .. ............................................... or this one by yours truly .. .. .. .. .. .. ................................................ I'm also influenced, like everyone else, by the usual ups and downs of relationships and friendships etc; romance songs and love songs should not be confused .................. i can appreciate beauty for the sake of beauty, but personally i put ethics before aesthetics, i say this only partly to defend the fact that i can't really sing or play the guitar. Music-wise, I'm hesitant to write a list of names for several reasons. Maybe, for whatever reason, you may not like one of the names I mention and that might make you pre-judge my music. Alternatively, you may like a name for different reasons than I do, and look for aspects of it that you won't find in my music. Thirdly, with all of the artists I name, there are aspects of them that I admire, respect, or sometimes even adore, but other aspects that I dislike. For example, I love the passion and sincerity of Rage Against The Machine, but find them too earnest and humourless, a bit like this essay maybe :) As long as this essay has turned out to be, I don't have the time nor the inclination to say what I like or dislike about each and every songwriter or band ! ......................................................So, bearing that in mind, and in the remote chance that you've read this far and actually give a crap, here's the list...................................................................................................... starting with people who have something to say: bob marley, the rub, corneilius, planetary citizen, mojopixy, ani di franco, dirty revolution, the kings blues, choombawamba, several artists on the peace not war compliations who can be found on my top friends, and any artists who are unashamedly committed to peace and freedom and sing about it with love and conviction, regardless of whether or not they have "talent" .......................................... bob dylan, syd barret, super furry animals, the pixies, pavement, the smiths, the violent femmes, system of a down (when im feeling teenage), nirvana (back in the day), neutral milk hotel, devendra bandhart, melanie, lou reed, the velvet underground, pulp, tom waits, weird al, the pogues, asian dub foundation, the sex pistols, tracey chapman, the bonzo dog doodah band, the mouldy peaches, and the sultans of ping fc. I have spent years of my life listening to misery merchants like leanord cohen, malcolm middleton, thom yorke, the eels, joy division, pj harvey and elliot smith (in ever dwindling amounts i'm happy to say; i think writing depressing songs is ok if it's cathartic but not if you start to see it as a virtue, which they all seem to, though their music is sometimes beautiful with redemptive value too ). ......I love so much music but i've only mentioned stuff that's obviously an ingredient in my own stew; what you like and what influences you may not be exactly the same thing anyway. I like bjork, the knife, mozart, clouddead, aphex twin, south african freedom songs and coco rosie too but I'll probably never make any music remotely like it...................A perceptive reader might have realised that that list is composed mainly of white males, that's something i'm not proud of, even though good music transcends these false divisions we ascribe to ourselves. But hey, it's the music I've been significantly influenced by so far in my life - not what I'd like to say I've been influenced by ..................................... Negatively, i'm influenced by rock pigs like bono, paul mcartney, geldoorff, metallica etc in as far as if i ever become as self-righteous/hypocritical/boring/business-like as them i hope someone shoots me...................If you like the music on this page then check out "the urban crofters", "l'instant fatale" and"elsub" in my top friends; these are the bands of friends ive lived and played with who've certainly influenced my life and music more than anyone famous......their songs are very good and very fun, though not really anything like the stuff i do on my own -
Sounds Like
it's been recorded in a shed with half-broken equipment and zero technical know how .... it's angry, absurd, sweet, and funny, though not always all these all the time.... that may sound a bit jekyll and hyde but i like to fuck with roles to subvert people's expectations of what "angry" or "happy" or "silly" music should sound like. alot of the time i try to vent my spleen and make people laugh at the same time. like bill hicks, i have a slightly sick sense of humour and i'd advise anyone who wants to hear more of my stuff to take alot of it with a large spoon of salt... i guess it's so all over the place in terms of mood and sound that no one's gonna like all of it, but i hope everyone can find at least one song they like... i've tried to put up as varied a selection as possible here, falling into the vague and not mutually exclusive categories of::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: rants about things both personal and political; satire and parodies of popular songs; surreal meaningless comedy; surreal, meaningless songs that aren't actually funny, sweet romance songs; daft, angry grungy grunting which i now find a bit embarrassing; and songs where the music comes first .....they'd probably have fun working out which genre to put me under in hmv...the one thing it's all held together by is the fact that it's all one -man band stuff done with limited technical ability and range of instruments, i.e: guitar, voice, beatboxing and piano....i should probably shut up now; describing music's like dancing for architecture....if you like one kind of song but not the others please tell me and i'll either recommend one of my "albums", or even make a special compilation just for you; ain't i nice?! always interested to hear what YOU think it sounds like and i appreciate honest opinions over insincere flattery.. ...... ................................................................................................................................... when i hear of this or that person having "impeccable taste" it makes me wanna laugh and puke simultaneously...................................................................................................... ...... ................................................................................................................................... ......
