About me: I thought it would be easier to talk and figure out what we wanted to do for our reunion if we had our own page. Be sure to leave ideas as comments so we can all read about what everyone is thinking. Also, be sure to tell people that aren't on this page to add it as a friends so they can stay informed.
CRAP! Something came up at home and I'll have to miss out this time. :-( Hopefully we'll have another get-together again soon. I'd love to see everyone. Have fun tonight and tomorrow! :-)
I'm sorry, I can't make it this weekend. :( Say hi to everyone for me! If anyone wants to know what I've been up to have them visit www. sapphiresegypt. com! Hugs!
Maybe. Joe mentioned something about Friday night at Shannahan's. I promised a (young) friend I'd make an appearance at his 21st birthday that night. I might swing by later though.
Joe told me... "Creston Park SE 44th Ave and Powell Blvd In SE Portland Picnic Site D I highly recommend Googleing for directions. What: Family picnic and social dinner. There is a playground, and ballfields for everyone’s merriment.
BYOB and a potluck style dish to share

We will provide condiments, burgers, dogs, buns, utensils, plates, napkins and cups.
Please RSVP for either or both events within a reasonable timeframe so we will know how much food to prepare. Also, please spread the word to any classmates we have not been able to reach. "
Some events happening around Labor Day, if that sounds like it would work for having a meetup:
Art in the Pearl Portland Cityfest Tuesdays by Twilight (Portland Classic Chinese Gardens, music) "A Chorus Line" at the Portland Opera "True Mummy" with Arts Equity On Stage and way more on http://www. travelportland. com/event_calendar/
Okay, can we all agree on an amount we want to put toward the event in August? I'm calling around trying to find a place to hold an event. Silversafe is up for being entertainment. I am still contacting other alumni bands for a gig, but I need a date and I need to know what the budget will be. What can people afford first?
Also, there's a new alumni network at http://vsaagrads. ning. com/. You can log on and make a profile there too. It will eventually be the alumni association's homepage.
I'm thinking if we're going to ask people to come in from out of town, we should set a date towards the end of August now, so people can plan. I also think that multiple gatherings are a good idea, but that we should push for this kick-off summer event. Otherwise, I'm afraid that we'll end up with far fewer faces at each event, and the idea is to have as many of us in one place at the same time as possible. Two cents from me.
So we've had several people comment that multiple gatherings would be beneficial, seeing as we all don't have completely cohesive schedules. I am thinking that July would be good for a summer gathering. August may have a lot of traveling involved, like my annual camping trip and the Clark County fair for my kids. However, maybe having it relate to something in this area, like the fair, would be better???
What do you guys think? Can we set something up the 2nd or 3rd weekend in July? Or should we look at August? And remember, this is the first gathering... we have other gatherings we can plan.
I kind of like that. I'm calling in my "My mom works there" connection to try to really nail the school down on what part they'll want to play, if any.
Okay, how about taking the reunion on an alternate route. Seeing as we are working with two graduating classes, technically, we could schedule a "celebration year". We setup different events in town over the year, ending up in December. That way we can all attend when we can. We can even setup a photo blog on this profile to include those who couldn't attend that event. I'm just worried we won't get everyone's schedules coordinated by the summer, though we could get most of them figured out...
I'm in town, so I have a "whenever" schedule. I don't go out of town with all my family being close by. Reconnecting a few times this year over the course of available months sounds fun, and we can even make a few themed if we're feeling giddy enough.
Don't get me wrong, I think that's my preference too. The school isn't really accomodating for the original classes as they were smaller. They want us to group together and have a huge thing, but I think that might be better for the school to do.
I'm all for renting out a bar and taking over. Save the SoCo for me.
I think that while it would be cool to do an "official" reunion, i don't see why we can't just all get together, slam back a few drinks, and have fun! I don't really want to go through the school when we can just have our own private party!
Kelsey, I am so happy someone else is helping this thing get off the ground. I have been trying my plump artist ass off to get something started, but all I get from the school is discussion about how the PTSA wants to be involved and what they don't want us to do. Starting a MySpace page should have been my first step, if I had thought about it. Obviously, that was not on my to-do list.
I recently had my fourth child (last Thursday, in fact) so things are crazy right now. But I want to contribute what the pending alumni association had been working on. April, Elizabeth and Crystal had helped me for the first iteration, and I've had more recent grads pitching in here and there, but the process is slow because of how an alumni association has to be organized legally.
I'm good for whenever we want to set this thing up. I am thinking that, seeing as not many of us are doctors or architects still needing college, we don't quite have to follow college schedules (except for Gabe, who will be in school for the rest of his life). Summer seems like a good idea, though getting school access is next to impossible until school is in session.
BTW - If we decide on December, it should be early... once we get close to holiday season I'm sure a handful of us (maybe? or just me :-) will be tied up with churchy things.
HI everybody So the lowdown is Kelsey and Amy have started the wheels turning for a reunion. Anybody who wants to pitch in ideas of what to actually do or other classmates we forgot would be awesome. Kelsey is running this website, so I don't get the emails, but if anyone wants to message me with information it will get processed! Happy 2008, Amy Haight
