360º Dance Company is a contemporary company comprised of Principal Dancers (past and present) from the Martha Graham Dance Company and other professional artists. The company is both a continuation of the modern dance legacy spearheaded by Martha Graham in the 1920s and an evolutionary force in the ever-changing contemporary dance world. 360 seeks to bridge the gap between the classic modern dance tradition and the rigorous multi-layered techniques of today’s contemporary dance work. Artistically, the company will carry on the Graham tradition that developed in New York City through the 1940s, -50s and -60s, presenting classic modern dance works by artists such as Martha Graham, Pearl Lang, Yuriko, Robert Cohan, Jane Dudley and others, and will commission new works by exciting contemporary artists such as Erica Dankmeyer, Errol Grimes and Lauri Stallings. Through this combination of classic and contemporary work, 360º will present performances that both preserve and develop the modern dance lineage, challenging our traditional roots while maintaining their artistic vision and integrity. The teaching of master classes, lecture/demonstrations and educational outreach programs will further augment this synthesis, infusing younger generations of dancers with the valuable amalgamation of past, present and future. As a repertory company, 360 is unique in that it represents a group of dancers with a strong foundation in a classic modern technique who both embrace and move beyond that technique. They possess the ability to perform classic modern work at the highest level, and are able to apply their classic physicality and dramatic maturity to the multifaceted techniques of contemporary work. 360 fuses the historical and the progressive through both dancers and repertory, melding the passionate integrity of the classics with the boundless attack and discovery of the modern-day masters. We believe that this unique constellation of artistic forces will propel us to the forefront of the art form’s evolution; revolutionizing the pathway that modern dance will take in the twenty-first century. Through extensive international touring and nationwide performances, 360 will shape a new modern dance that, with the grit and power of the legacy’s founders, and the fearless exploration and innovation of the most contemporary choreographers, will carve a solid place for dance in postmodern society. 360 is incorporated as Full Circle Productions, Inc.
