About me: The WCEC, a power plant which is being constructed despite the lack of a complete Environmental Impact Statement in the Everglades watershed in Palm Beach Co, will produce 12 million tons of CO2 a year, more pollution than the 20 least polluting nations combined. Oh, I'm just a bunch of really nasty powerplants, including the West County Energy Center (WCEC) which is a 3800 megawatt Gas/Diesel power plant currently under construction out in the Everglades (I am missing a few permits and it'll be the third largest power plant in the U.S. but we'll keep that between you and me). But hey, I bet I can get you to believe that there is no problem as long as I tell you that I'm also here to save the environment, cause I am, while at the same time I am here to destroy it. You see, I am crazy. I have token clean energy examples, some wind and solar (but not in Florida), you know, to make the investor portfolio look green, but I also run some pretty sweet and nasty nuke and coal plants and I prefer to put them in very sensitive areas.

Who I'd like to meet: Other powerplants that claim to be clean. Other power plants that are attempting to destroy a unique ecosystem. Business executives and gas hogs in general. Really, I'd like to meet anyone that wants more power and less wilderness. I don't really care for alligators or wetlands.

Today the Everglades are a little safer from poorly planned development.
Thousands of Floridians from around the state signed our petition to Gov. Crist urging his Department of Community Affairs (DCA) to reject two developments, including a Lowe's big box retail center that threatened the Everglades. On Friday, DCA did exactly that.
But our work isn't done. Lowe's, who still wants to cement urban sprawl to the edge of the Everglades, plans to fight this decision.
"We feel confident that the decision will be overturned,'' declared a Lowe's attorney in response to the DCA's decision.
There are 111 Lowe's stores in Florida but there's only one Everglades.
We need to send a message to Lowe's right now and tell them to protect the Everglades, not pave it.

The voice of Floridians made the difference in the DCA's decision, and it can make the difference again by putting pressure on Lowe's to drop their legal efforts that threaten the Everglades.

20 Young Activists going to trial!! Need support! :O)
20 Young Activists who protested the building of the new fossil fuel power plant in western PBC will begin jury trial next week. Please join us in the courtroom to show the judge and jury that the public supports clean energy and the constitutional right to challenge corporations. The trial promises to be exciting with 20 activists consolidated into one huge trial, expert testimony from hydrologists, arrestees taking the stand to defend their right to protest, and the state stumbling in their efforts to criminalize dissent.

THANKS!! ------------------------------------- In the waning hours of Sunday May 18th, dedicated community members in resistance to I-69 set up a defensive encampment high in the trees above the farmland that INDOT and Mitch Daniels consider the future site of the NAFTA Superhighway.
Landowners, neighbors, and concerned residents are joining together in a multi-faceted struggle to end the $4 billion debacle that is this road. 450 Indiana families stand to be evicted, and a growing number are committing not to bend over easily to INDOT’s intimidation tactics. Eminent Domain suits, community solidarity networks, public meetings, nature walks and bike rides along the route, barbeques, marches, and demonstrations allow participation in this effort by folks of all commitment levels and time constraints.
Nearly 10,000 fertile acres await a fate of asphalt and concrete if we fail to act, but this road is not a done deal, and this first act of physical land defense will not be the last. As long as bulldozers continue to threaten our communities we will do everything we can to stop them.

Yes FPL, you are really cool. Thank you for beginning to build me, a 3800 megawatt gas/diesel plant out in the Everglades. I'll be the final death of that stupid ole unique ecosystem that so many people find "magical" and "beautiful." Who cares if people use the Everglades for water. People don't need water, they need power and dead wildlife. So together I think we can provide just that.
Oh, FPL, you are so cool. You should build 100 nuclear plants. You should build three more powerplants out in the Everglades too. I love you. Your greenwashing has fooled alot of people into thinking you actually benefit the environment. That is dirty, crooked, and awesome. Keep it up.
