It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion. It is easy in solitude to live after our own. But the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.

The type of person that I most admire is the stubborn person, who tenaciously perseveres in keeping the character traits he admires in himself despite the great travails they cause him in the world. The type I least admire is the meek person, who is willing to transform himself into whatever it takes to win wealth and honors from other men.
