To become divine is the aim of life.
All is God and nothing but God. Pray to Him. Be frank. Confess all your troubles before Him. If you take one step nearer to the Divine Being, He will come a hundred by leaps and bounds to you. Surrender everything to Him. Let Him mould you in any way He likes. He will remove all defects and weaknesses.

The greater the intensity of surrender, the more the descent of the Lord's grace. The descent of grace is in direct proportion to the degree of self-surrender. Obtain the grace of the Lord through self-surrender. In surrendering one's will to the Lord's, his will becomes one with the Lord.

God is full of mercy, love and compassion. If you pray to Him from the bottom of your heart, He will purify your thoughts, speech and actions in the fire of Divine Love. Kindle the flame of Divine Love in your heart.
    ~ Swami Sivananda

The soul feels him within itself not only as a fire that has consumed and transformed it but as a fire that burns and flares within it. And that flame, every time it flares up, bathes the soul in glory and refreshes it with the quality of divine life.

With time and practice, love grows deeper in quality, and become more ardent. We have an example of this in the activity of fire: Although the fire has penetrated the wood, transformed it, and united it with itself, yet as this fire grows hotter and continues to burn, so the wood becomes much more incandescent and inflamed, even to the point of flaring up and shooting out flames from itself.

A MAN is raised up from the earth by two wings—simplicity and purity. There must be simplicity in his intention and purity in his desires. Simplicity leads to God, purity embraces and enjoys Him.

If your heart is free from ill-ordered affection, no good deed will be difficult for you. If you aim at and seek after nothing but the pleasure of God and the welfare of your neighbor, you will enjoy freedom within.

If your heart were right, then every created thing would be a mirror of life for you and a book of holy teaching. If inwardly you were good and pure, you would see all things clearly and understand them rightly.

As iron cast into fire loses its rust and becomes glowing white, so he who turns completely to God is stripped of his sluggishness and changed into a new man.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
    ~ Lao-tzu

Never despair. Life begins fresh each morning. Look not into the past. Be always hopeful. You will succeed. Hope gives you strength, pushes and urges you to struggle, strive, achieve and attain something, which will give you solace, satisfaction, comfort, peace and bliss.

A young girl hopes to marry a beautiful, intelligent, rich husband. A businessman hopes to become a millionaire.
    ~ Swami Siavananda

Be courageous, brave, intrepid, and resolutely-minded
Be able to confront fear, pain, uncertainty, intimidation, risk and danger
Be able to act rightly in the face of popular opposition, shame, scandal, or discouragement.

Be patient, sincere, cool, calm, serene, prudent, and open-minded
Use experience and logic; take all relevant circumstances into account
Compare alternative possibilities and make right decisions

Every time you don't follow your inner guidance, you feel a loss of energy, loss of power, a sense of spiritual deadness.

Let your intuition guide you, and then be willing to follow that guidance directly and fearlessly. Learn to be yourself, and allow your natural channel to open. When you are trusting and being yourself... everything in your life reflects this by falling into place easily, often miraculously.
    ~ Shakti Gawain

A kind man wins the hearts of others.
A good man always lives with God. He lives in God. He has divinity within him.

He who sows courtesy reaps friendship. He who plants kindness reaps love. Goodness is love in action.

A man of gentleness is amiable, soothing and courteous. He is free from rudeness and harshness. He is sweet and soft. Gentleness is tenderness of feeling. It is love and consideration.

Gentleness corrects whatever is offensive in your manners. If one is gentle, it does not mean, he is weak and inefficient. Only the strong can be really gentle. Rudeness or harshness is sign of weakness, ignorance, impoliteness and inexperience.

Gentle describes the natural disposition; tame, that which is subdued by training; mild implies a temper which is, by nature, not easily provoked; meek, a spirit which has been schooled to mildness by discipline or suffering.

A good deed is never lost. It purifies the heart and leads to the descent of divine light and dawn of divine grace.

Love inspires, illumines, forgives, is nor affected by offence or insult, is a divine elixir, and profusely give.

Pure love is bliss, a divine flame, a flow of vital energy, purifies the heart, strengthens and ennobles the character, gives a higher, pure motive and a nobler aim to every action of life and makes a man strong, noble and courageous.

Develop unconditional and universal love gradually through selfless service.
    ~ Sri Swami Sivananda

Never go to excess, but let moderation be your guide.
Reason should direct and appetite obeys.

A friend is, as it were, a second self.
The shifts of Fortune test the reliability of friends.
    ~ Cicero

Consult your friend on all things, especially on those which respect yourself. His counsel may then be useful where your own self-love might impair your judgment.

We should every night call ourselves to an account: What infirmity have I mastered today? What passions opposed? What temptation resisted? What virtue acquired? Our vices will abort of themselves if they be brought every day to the shrift.

There is no great genius without some touch of madness.
    ~ Seneca

Behold, in the cross is everything, and upon your dying on the cross everything depends. There is no other way to life and to true inward peace than the way of the holy cross and daily mortification. Go where you will, seek what you will, you will not find a higher way, nor a less exalted but safer way, than the way of the holy cross.
    By Thomas à Kempis

    THE DEATH OF FAITHFUL CHRISTIANS
After having walked sufficiently among the Christians and having examined their behavior, I finally saw that Death also moves among them. But it is not as in the world--of a hideous, naked, and repulsive appearance--but is wrapped up neatly in the linen-clothes which Christ left in His grave. Death approached one here and another there and informed them that it was time for them to depart from the world. Oh, what a joy, what a rapture was his who received this message! They submitted to all kinds of pain, even the sword, fire, pincers, or any other torture, only that it might come sooner, only to hasten the time of their deliverance. Then each fell alseep peacefully, quietly, and gladly.

Watching what was to follow, I observed that the angels, according to God's command, found for each of them a spot where his body is to have its little resting chamber. When the body is placed there by friends or enemies, or even by the angels themselves, the latter guard the tomb so that the bodies of the saints are secure from Satan lest the least grain of dust should be lost. Other angels, meanwhile, taking the soul, convey it up in splendor and with wonderful raptures. When I gazed after them (adjusting my glasses), I perceived there glory ineffable.
    By John Amos Comenius

    TRUE PATIENCE IN SUFFERING
    THE VOICE OF CHRIST

WHAT are you saying, My child? Think of My suffering and that of the saints, and cease complaining. You have not yet resisted to the shedding of blood. What you suffer is very little compared with the great things they suffered who were so strongly tempted, so severely troubled, so tried and tormented in many ways. Well may you remember, therefore, the very painful woes of others, that you may bear your own little ones the more easily. And if they do not seem so small to you, examine if perhaps your impatience is not the cause of their apparent greatness; and whether they are great or small, try to bear them all patiently. The better you dispose yourself to suffer, the more wisely you act and the greater is the reward promised you. Thus you will suffer more easily if your mind and habits are diligently trained to it.
    The Imitation of Christ
