About me: The York Area Firefighter's Combat Challenge Team is comprised of firefighters from the York area who compete in the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge. Billed as the "TOUGHEST TWO MINUTES IN SPORTS".
The Challenge seeks to encourage firefighter fitness and demonstrate the profession's rigors to the public. Wearing full firefighting gear and a SCOTT breathing apparatus, pairs of competitors simulate the physical demands of real-life firefighting by performing a linked series of five tasks. This includes: climbing a five-story tower, hoisting a 42 pound hose roll, simulated chopping using the Keiser force machine, dragging a charged hoseline and rescuing a life sized 175 pound "victim" as they race against themselves, their opponent and the clock.
