    The art of cooking the perfect meal lies in; getting the correct ingredients, using them in the right proportion to one another, cooking them at the correct heat and being sure that you cook them at the right time so as to avoid over cooking or undercooking your meal. This of course is if you are trying to make a meal that will leave a lasting impression on those whom bite into it and not if you are trying to make a quick fix kind of dish. What does this have to do with music? Well one can certainly liken the music that producer/composer Mpho Pholo creates as a musical dish prepared to perfection. With a touch of a secret ingredient, which will leave musical lovers across all genres, coming back for more of what Mpho has to serve. The proof is in his track record, working with an array of artists in the South African Urban music scene, and bringing out the best in each artist. Perhaps one of the greatest achievements is the fact that he is the creator of the sound that that is closely aligned with South African Urban group Jozi, Muthaland Crunk. The first emergence of this new genre was on the original soundtrack for the award winning South African movie Tsotsi which featured a track by Jozi entitled Crazy. Mpho Pholo continued to play his part in shaping the emerging Urban sounds in South Africa during his three year stay at Ghetto Ruff. He has produced for the likes of RJ Benjamin, HHP, Ishmael, Morafe and Zola to mention a few. His departure from Ghetto Ruff lead to the 2007 opening of Reck Shoppe Tunes. Mpho Pholo is not only the lead composer of the record label and publishing handle, but he is also the director. Reck Shoppe Tunes is quickly making its mark in the music industry, as the label that released and produced JR’s first album “ The Main Event” to more recently working with French Rapper Negus on his 2010 release in France; to releasing and producing a new voice in South African Music Nomsa Mazwai whose EP was released in 2010. With this pattern in such a short time it is evident that Mpho Pholo has his ear to the ground when it comes to producing fresh music with new acts. It’s no doubt that he will soon have the entire world awaiting to hear what comes out of his kitchen.
