  • Bio

Harold Trout and Percy Watkins are two all-American, old-schooled, tell-it-like-it-is Texans. Hailing from Crabb, a small unincorporated community in Fort Bend County, Texas, they met each other in high school, where they both played on the B.F. Terry High School basketball team. Harold, the tall center, and Percy, the short and stout point guard, embarked on a life-long friendship that would take them all over the United States and Texas together. Unfortunate circumstance struck in 1950 when Harold was drafted into the United States Army to go fight in Korea. Percy was unable to accompany his compadre due to a condition known to many as “flat feet.” While his friend was away at war, Percy started a life of his own, marrying his beautiful wife Mildred and having three wonderful children with no grandchildren but his little great-niece considers him a grandpa since her real grandpa passed away some time ago. He also landed a job at the mill just down the road in Rosenberg. Coming back from the war left Harold a little physically and emotionally damaged. Percy, always being there for his amigo, introduced his buddy to what would become the love of Harold’s life, Betty Jean. Married in 1954, Harold and Betty Jean have been happily married for over 53 years and have two children and four grandchildren. Harold, being the entrepreneur that he is, soon opened a hardware store in a near-by town of Richmond. Percy stayed on at the mill and the two men with their wives stayed friends, going on many combined family vacations, fairs, festivals, historic sites, state parks, and casinos together. In the early seventies Harold and Percy attended a Hank Snow concert at the Alvin Opry down in Alvin, Texas; thus, sparking an immediate love for country and western music and its entertainers. The two men began staking out other venues like the Dark Horse saloon in Pearland, the Texas Rose Hall in Alvin, and various VFWs throughout south Texas to watch their favorite country entertainers. It wasn’t until 1979 on a trip to Nashville, Tennessee to the Grand Ole Opry their country music fandom turned from love to obsession. They soon began attending every country and western show that came to the Astrodome up in Houston, and even went to, and had backstage meet and greet passes for the last concert in the Astrodome performed by George Strait!! Due to gigantic companies taking over the world of retail, Harold had to shut down his hardware store in the late 1990s. He currently works part-time at Wal-Mart putting bicycles together. Percy retired from the mill sometime ago, but couldn't stay retired, so he got himself a part-time job driving cars (from dealership to dealership) at Jim Jard Chevrolet in Rosenberg. Today, Harold and Percy are somewhat jaded, let down, and discouraged for the future of country and western music. Their disdain for younger artists being made members of the Grand Ole Opry too early in their careers, the pop artists trying to take over the country and western field, and overproduction of country concerts with special effects, smoke, pyrotechnicals, and other unnecessary outside elements has led the two self-proclaimed country and western aficionados to speak out to America and hopefully save country and western music for the next generation. .. .. .. .. .. ............ ....Myspace Layouts.. at Pimp-My-Profile.com / ..Redneck Layout.. ..
