the mB story
Bio:
The Short Version:
We are an unsuccessful rock band made up of a Sex-Addict / Alcoholic / former Whip-It Delivery Salesman, a former drummer of the infamous Georgia band "the Woggles", a Dr. Who aficionado, and me. The band officially started when DJ PF joined D Plan and I in 2005. (PF stands for "Pumpkin Fucker". That nickname derives from him actually doing a warm pumpkin until he came. He even burnt the tip of his penis. The pictures are somewhere out there and I've been trying to get my hands on them for years. Look for them in the liner notes of our "Best of" album due out in 2048, when I die at age 69.) We mainly used to play shows at the infamous "BUTT Club" as the House Band (where DJ PF would perform naked).
The great DJ PF has moved on to bigger and better things (rocking with such great bands as "Accidental Gun Death", among others), but molly B is still attempting to rock and surviving longer that most Portland bands do (Why? No one knows.). After years of lineup changes we have finally got the best members (imho) we've ever had on bass, drums, and electric saw. And even though we've had members in the band from age 8 to 41, we are now a band of people all over 30. We're almost starting to gel. Hopefully we will make a decent album before we all hate each other and break up.

Here's our latest album, Gerbil Tube Lariat, which has no particular release date. Destined to be a classic. Or a complete failure. You be the judge:
mB's fourth album, sans rhythm section, "Live In Front of Four People". Recorded in 2008 at Proper Eats in St Johns, in front of at least three people...
mB's third album from 2007, mostly b-sides from the previous album. They call this one "Superhero/Supervillain 1.5"
Here's all of mB's second album, a studio masterpiece from 2006 known as "Superhero/Supervillain, Pt. 1"

As you may or may not know, we here at WW are preparing for our Best New Band issue, and we had joked about the idea of running 'Worst New Band' as a sidebar. .. ..Other than like a dozen hits about Bowling For Soup (you remember this?), I stumbled on molly BANG, who not only has 'Portland's Worst Band' as a MySpace headline, but uses 'bullshit' twice when describing its genre ('bullshit rock' and 'lo-fi acoustic bull shit'). .. ..I have picked what I think is the band's worst song available for download, and I'm presenting it here. Problem is, I really like distorted acoustic guitar and this song isn't all that bad. A couple clever lines and everything. But some of the 'yeahs' seem unnecessary, and damnit, I'm on a mission. That said, molly BANG is far from the worst band in Portland (and I think one of these dudes might be in the Wherewithals). So who is Portland's worst? You'll just have to wait for our Worst New Band issue. And if you think your music is downright awful, do the right thing and let us know. .. ..Molly BANG plays Zach's Shack (yes, the hot dog place) tonight. Not kidding." -
