Brought up in B.C. Canada, Chantal had her first encounter with Jazz when she was just thirteen years old. During an evening out at “La Bussola”, one of Italy’s most revered music venues, she was coaxed on stage to perform “Summertime” having never heard it before. On the strength of her performance the manager of the venue offered her a residency. She later went on to perform at jazz festivals, music venues, clubs and top hotels throughout Italy, Canada and the UK.

Chantal became a top finalist for a world wide search to write a theme song for a James Bond book entitled Devil May Care by Sebastian Faulks (writing as Ian Flemming) The theme song, also entitled “Devil May Care”, and penned alongside pianist Matthew Lucas, was selected amongst over 500 entries by a high-profile judging panel including respected figures from the world of literature and music, such as cult music producer Jazzie B and Matthew Fleming, great nephew of original Bond author Ian Fleming.

The article continues; “Victorian abroad makes short list for 007’s song. A Victoria native hopes to join the ranks of Shirley Bassey, Madonna and others with her new James Bond theme song. London-based jazz singer Chantal Santos, is one of five short-listed in an international contest to create a theme song for the upcoming Bond book, Devil May Care. Her torchy tune, also titled Devil May Care, was selected out of more than 500 international entries for the Penguin Books.”

Chantal is regularly accompanied by top class Jazz musicians including Pianists Phil Mead, Rita Geaquinto, Alan Berry, Sam Crowe - Double Bass Players Jonathan Gee, Dave Silk, Mick Coady - Guitarists Dominic Ashworth, Charles Alexander and too many more to mention She has recently performed at the prestigious “International Cartier Polo Tournament” event held at Windsor grounds and hosted by His Royal Highness Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

April 2008 saw her perform at Club Pigalle in the heart of Piccadilly. The Club’s lineup for that month included the last performance before her death of the amazing Eartha Kitt, actress, singer, and cabaret star, who starred as Catwoman in the 1960s Batman TV series. Club Pigalle has recently hosted top class performances by artists such as Justin Timberlake, Black Eyed Peas, Christina Aguilera and Lionel Richie just to name a few.
