While Mikey was working at Stop and Shop a few months ago, Adam came in and bagged for Mikey for an hour. They decided they should start a band called "Cardboard." Mikey asked a customer if he would listen to a band by the name of Cardboard, he said yes. We thought about changing the names, but we couldn't because we would throw off that one fan of ours.
We orginated last night, November 23rd, 2005 in Adam's basement. Adam I'Med Mikey around 8:00 at night and asked him if he wanted to come over and "Paint Stuff." Mikey said ok, but I can't paint. But after a while of arguing, Mikey saying he can't paint, and Adam saying Mikey can do whatever he sets his mind to, Mikey decided to go over to Adam's. Along with himself, his i Pod and his Little Tykes Recorder, Mikey brought over his acoustic guitar and his keyboard. Mikey and Adam started to paint. Mikey was like "seriously I can't do this," as he looked at Adam's master piece that he had whipped up in five minutes. But Adam said, "Dude, just do it." So Mikey did it. He just sprayed a bunch of colors on the piece of wood Adam had given Mikey. Then while they were waiting for their art to dry, (if you could call Mikey's painting art) they went into the other room and played guitar. Adam played some Kelly Clarkson and him and Mikey decided Mikey should try to play along to it. He couldn't that well, though. So then Mikey showed Adam his emo songs, and Adam showed Mikey his emo songs, and it went well from there. Then as Adam was going upstairs with Mikey to show him his piano Mikey mentioned Jack Johnson. Mikey said his usual thought about Jack Johnson "he plays like one chord, and everybody loves him." Adam said "yeah, well he was the first one to do it." So Mikey, being his sarcastic joking self, says "so I could just play a g chord and only a g chord in every song, and people would love me cos I'd be the first one to do it." And Adam said, "yeah, if you're the first one to do it." So later on Adam took one of his pieces of art and made a saw-like design on it, and put red on that part to represent blood. Then Adam started to write lyrics on it. Mikey tried to help him out when he got stuck but they just couldn't do it. So they started another one. On this there was a gun shooting a heart and blood splattered everywhere. On it Mikey wrote, with the help of Adam,:
I thought I knew you,
But assumtion is wrong.
I thought I'd be the first one to say so long.
So they decided that Adam would do most of the painting and him and Mikey would write emo lyrics on it with the help of Adam. Then Mikey would play the songs on guitar and sing the four lines. And along with our CD, inside the booklet we would have the paintings with the lyrics. We are the first one to do this. And we do it with much thought. We are both talented at it most likely, because of our practice with these things, or maybe its just cos we get high off of the spray paint, but hopefully its just we are just good at it because of practice. So here we are Cardboard, we are art and a band, know as "Bart" or "And" we agreed "And" would be the better name of our genre. But our other genres include powerpop and others that have never been mixed together.
