The road to hell is paved with good intentions. A journey on which we find ourselves riddled with angst and lost souls, forever searching for the morning star to show us the way. 3 Quarters Dead has tapped into the black storm rising and given a voice to the questions of divinity and damnation in today's youth. Powered by grit and growl, they create emotionally driven songs laced with foreboding melody in the shadow of a world's demise. 3QD emerged from Wilkesboro,North Carolina and recorded their first demo in 1999. 3QD pressed on for three years before releasing their debut CD "Blueprint of a Strange Mind." It became an instant favorite among the hometown crowd and local college radio. After several years touring the Carolinas and Virginia, securing airtime on local radio stations, and solidifying countless gigs in the piedmont,3QD found themselves on tour opening for nationally recognized act Mushroomhead. Then everything changed. Front man Waylon Reavis was called in to replace Jason Popson, aka Jmann for Mushroomhead, permitting 3QD no time waste recruiting a new voice to lead the way. Other vocalist temporarily took the wheel before they found the voice they'd been searching for When Jason Sain came on board, they knew they had found the ideal voice for 3QD. Influences such as Devil Driver ,Marilyn Manson, and KORN are unmistakeable in his voice. He is a kindred soul with the same vision and style that made 3QD the rising star it was destined to become. Lead guitarist JP Masengill stepped down and Sam Rhodes took over. Sam's dedication to the craft and heavy rock influences like Pantera,Slayer, and Soilwork, make him a perfect fit. Matt Staley took over on bass when Richie Williams left the band. Matt's style is thick, gritty, and reminiscent of his love for the Murderdolls,TOOL, Motley Crue and Marilyn Manson. Kenny Wyatt's percussion skills continue to build and reconstruct the framework of all that 3QD has evolved into, and has yet to become. His primary influences are KORN,Alice in Chanis, and Guns N' Roses. Mark Alexander is all business when it comes to guitar presence and style. His expression and sheer chunk give testament to his love for KISS, Faith No More, and the one and only Megadeth. 3QD has been asked to play and tour with bands such as CLUTCH,The Sword, Soilwork,Mushroomhead, Avenged Sevenfold, Shadows Fall,GWAR,Shinedown, Nothingface,Jackyl,Stuck Mojo,Switched,WASP,and The Genitortures. During these times they have played numerous venues which include Ziggy's(Winston-Salem,NC),The Millenium Center(Winston-Salem,NC),Jesters Pub(Fayetteville,NC), Tremont Music Hall(Charlotte,NC), Amos' South End(Charlotte,NC), Ground Zero(Spartanburg,SC), The Brewery(Raleigh,NC), Peabody's Down Under(Cleveland,OH), Crocodile Rocks(Allentown,PA), Quad City Live(Davenport,IA), The Canopy Club( Urbana ,IL), Harpo's(Detroit,MI), Club Laga(Pittsburg,PA), The Crowbar(State College,PA),The Agora Theatre(Cleveland,OH),and Screwy Louie's(Kent,OH). The bands latest CD release, "Between Angels & Demons" is quickly gaining regional recognition. The album was recorded by Century Media Recording Engineer Jamie King of Between the Buried and Me,The Human Abstract, and Beloved fame. The contrast between the highs and lows of sound and soul makes this a roller coaster ride of angelic whisper and demonic anguish. This band is destined to go places. They know the road all too well. They've paid their dues for years, and still they forge on. 3 Quarters Dead Biography
