3am rocks the blues. They write and perform their own songs amidst a nostalgic selection of re-arranged classics. Brothers Tim and Andy Renton been playing together, or in separate bands since the 1970’s. In 2004 the two of them started 3am – joined by Chris Parren, keys, Trev Turley on bass, Helen Turner vocals, and her husband Iain on second guitar. Worked hard, had a lot of fun and a reasonable amount of local success – including gigs at Guilfest 2007 and 2008, The Chichester Blues Festival and The 100 Club - until August 2008 when Trev, Iain and Helen suddenly decided to split off and do their own thing.
Very happy to say the new line-up is even better since the explosive arrival of young Rhian!!!! Despite her youth, she’s an experienced, talented and original singer/songwriter who loves the blues – especially the old Bessy Smith/Billy Holliday deep-south-rooted styles. These are influences only – she has her own unique singing style, and a voice you’ll be fascinated to hear – over and over again! Look out world!!
