“Combining trip-hop, grunge, industrial, drum & bass, and elements of electronic pop, (3 Dollar Hostage) is making some ominous music unlike anything else…” “SHOUT Magazine” September 2006 .
3 Dollar Hostage is based out of Chapel Hill and Raleigh in North Carolina and are creating a unique electro-grunge sound that is very innovative. The group met while attending ASU in Boone, NC. They immediately connected and started playing shows full of fast live electronica filled with improvisation and segues in and out of songs. Two years later they would change their style and incorporate rock, grunge, pop, and metal into their sound. Thus leading to a whole new outlook on music direction and a much needed move back to their hometowns of Chapel Hill and Raleigh. 3 Dollar Hostage has shared the stage with The Roots, Thievery Corporation, RJD2, Brazilian Girls, The Disco Biscuits, Benzos, Brothers Past, Indobox, and many more. Armed with an arsenal of electronic instruments, the boundaries of what a rock trio can sound like are constantly growing.

I got there too late for your set Wednesday night!, and nearly missed Feeding the Fire's. I had two different times jotted down for y'all, but as I was deciding when to cut out of The Cave and head there, I was thinking y'all were playing in the last slot. Plus when I trust the posted time for starting and show up at the venue, it is only THEN that anyone speaks with any certainty, smiling, and saying, "Yeh, and the music should start around 11." Figures. Haaa!
Hope y'all are having a nice Thanksgiving. Catch you again soon!
Last night at Nightlight, I saw an outstanding DC group who tour with lights & fog. It made me more excited about seeing y'all here in November. I had to tell others about 3 Dollar Hostage and to keep an eye&ear out for y'all!
(PS - So very sorry to hear about the equipment & gear losses. A cappella will be just fine with me.)
Hi guys! You're out of hibernation and that's great news. So time to feed yourselves with adoration and the visual of fanatic fans fawning as you perform. I'll be REALLY happy when I see a local show or two on your calendar. Eah? nudge, nudge, wink wink.
