3jam is a new and better way to stay in touch with your friends.
It's not easy to send a text message to a group of friends. If you do figure it out, nobody who gets your message knows who else got it. And there is no way to reply to everyone and actually have a conversation.
3jam solves this problem by making it easy to send a text message simultaneously to any number of people. Everyone in the group knows who else got the message, and replies go to everyone in the group.
What's so great about 3jam?
If you can send a text message, you can use 3jam. No special software is required. 3jam works on any wireless carrier and on any mobile phone that supports text messaging. Your friends can reply-all from their phones without any setup or signup.
3jam doesn't charge you anything to use the service - no subscription fees, no extra charges on your wireless bill. Messages sent on 3jam are just regular text messages. You can actually save money by sending a single message to multiple friends for the price of only one text message.
Unlike a mailing list, 3jam is completely ad hoc. You pick the recipients of your message on-the-fly. You don't have to predefine groups. You don't have to visit a website. You can do everything you need to do on 3jam right from your phone.
I used to live on Howard and 6th in the old school loft right above yours. I started StartSoma with John Doffing. I had the two little doggies and a Porsche Boxster. I ran into Enlai in Vegas on Friday night and realized the connection.:)
OMG! WOW! that was the best comment to wake up to. THANK YOU THANK YOU. i will DEFINITELY tell all my friends about 3jam. i'll leave a message about the iPod. good luck with 3jam and i hope all goes well.
The concept is wonderful...Especially because I use my phone to help promote events for friends. I have to agree with the comments below, the process to add people is a little rough and a website for registered users would be cool. I'm gonna send this to a few people in my regualr phone book to see what they think. I have some stubborn friends so we'll see, but so far so good! Like I said, I'm inviting people to things weekly so this works great for that...Mad props for venturin out to try something new! Good luck!
Okay, everybody on my little "team" agrees that it takes entirely too long to add people to your list. Being able to add multiple people in one text, with only one confirmation text being sent, would be much more appealing to consumers, most of your target demo has a limited text plan and getting 3 or 4 "address book updated" messages would turn a lot of people away. The 3jam website should have a login for existing customers, which would allow them to add people to their list without sending a text to do so.
Also, developing a 3jam program for download in danger/tmobiles catalog similar to "Ecast", a group texting program already available for dowload for sidekick users, would be a plus. The lag between replys isn't bad, IMO, because peoples response times vary, as do SMS transmissions from provider to provider. I think this is a great way for people with "regular" cel phones without IM capability to group text/chat, but to appeal to the PDA/sidekick/blackberry demographic, a program similar to Ecast is needed.
yeah this is pretty sweet but adding people take to long and getting the chat to starts takes long, it would be easier if we could put abbreviations for the names of the people in our phonebooks
Its cool. It took long to add people to my address book though. It would be great if I was able to add multiple names at one time. Thanks. Great idea guys!

the texts back to me were pretty fast but sometimes they were a little slow. but otherwise this service is pretty convenient for sending out messages to a group of people pretty fast.
