Bio
.. .. This profile was created using: ProfileTweaks Editor Ver.2 ......3PUEN (Pronounced Pyoon) .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 3Puen (the 3 is silent) was born in Thompkins Square Park, NYC, on acid in 1998. Flloyd (Wigstock: The Movie, 1994) was traveling, doing his vaudeville act with Hildegard the Puffin. While driving across country, he met a fresh-faced teenager on the road. She was picking daisies and wild strawberries. Ingrid ForNow was her name. Later at an estate sale, they bought AXK-9411 who they renamed Brian Damage (formerly of Stiff, inc.). Flloyd and Brian formed what remains the creative core of 3PUEN. It just seemed natural that they all make beautiful music together. In ’98 they premiered at a Marc Almond tribute in NYC where Brian played the dust-buster and Ingrid played the Polaroid. 3Puen’s wacky sound was born. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. Their next performance included a cover of Fad Gadget’s “The Box”, in which Flloyd read lyrics off of Brian’s t-shirt, and Ingrid flailed in a box. During the next two years, 3PUEN’s circle widened to include such notables as Otis von Darling (who they met at an exclusive macramé camp in the Himalayas) and Dee Flinley (serving auspiciously as their spiritual guru). A long time was spent in the studio honing and perfecting strange yet catchy tunes. In December of 2002, they premiered their new songs at NYC’s club Rare. Flloyd, Otis, and Ingrid sported cardboard outfits, and Dee played the circular saw. The show was a hit and in May 2003 the band released it’s first recording, The Silent 3 EP. Although the band pushed “Page” as a single, during the summer of 2003 “Sugar Cookie” proved to be a runaway hit on WFMU (voted Best Radio Station in the U.S. by Rolling Stone Magazine for 4 years). After several shows around New York, 3PUEN was invited to contribute a track to a compilation album of bands from New York State. Transference was the brainchild of Jimmy Lonesome, who recorded a new version of “Page” at Leopard Studio in Stone Ridge, NY. 3PUEN performed at the album’s release party. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. In 2004, 3PUEN was joined in the studio by the effervescent talent of Patti Lu3puen. Her vocal stylings are featured on the title track of the band’s new EP She-A-Robot, a sanguine story of love lost among the stars. Also included on the EP is “The Self-Hatred Suite” – a 13-minute foray into 3 revealing aspects of modern life. Part A, “I’m Not Pretty”, is a sparse and jarring tune with a PIL-like bass line and a vocal by Flloyd. Part B, “Model Size”, is a full-on dance track featuring vocal by Ingrid. Part C consists of “Secret Hot Dog Party”, a dramatic epic, sung by Otis von Darling, that is as far away from dance music as you can get. 3PUEN chooses to explore a wide range of musical styles – their influences are varied and multitudinous! -
