After the much adored unfinished and unreleased sci-fi rock opera "Electrons and Blood" and the critically acclaimed unwritten horror movie screenplay and original soundtrack for "Under the Mountain", Noam Schatz aka 3rdness is happy to announce the free electronic release of the highly anticipated debut follow up EP, "Red Chanterelles".
At a time when anyone with a laptop has a wealth of pre-fab electronic
noises at their disposal, Noam begins his sonic research by deliberately
short-circuiting the innards of toy keyboards, turning them into bizarre
machines capable of incredibly sophisticated and impossible-to-duplicate
sounds.
Featuring an intriguing blend of samples, synths, and circuit bent sounds, 3rdness has crafted a collection of songs to feed the ears, mind, and body. Spilling out from such assorted influences as minimalist Krautrock repetition, hip hop backbeats, and the undulating exploration of early electronic music, "Red Chanterelles" hints at the natural beauty that can spring up from the most uncertain of places.
"Every day, as I walk in the woods around western Massachusetts, I notice the small changes in the environment throughout the seasons. The humidity and heat of late summer bring out the wild palette of mushrooms and fungus, including the most alien bright red blush of chanterelles spread across the forest floor" Noam continues, "This spontaneous natural beauty is the type of inspiration that fuels my creative process. Finding the unexpected sounds from the mangled circuits of a childs toy, or the surprising resonance from pairing samples from a horror movie soundtrack with a soul song, punk rock with gospel - these are the juxtapositions I adore."
