Third Wheel is a five piece band that prides itself in playing a diverse array of music that both entertains the listener and excites the players. Formed in 2006 originally as an acoustic act, the group includes some skilled and experienced players as well as fresher, yet equally as talented musicians. The repertoire ranges from both old school and modern R & B and funk, new and classic rock, to blues and even some country and folksy choices. Having been acquaintances for some time, sharing the stage at jams and sitting in with each other, the band feeds off of one another while having a genuinely good time. That positive energy is shared with the audience.
Singer and founding member Stephanie Johnson has been steadily honing her strong vocals since she began singing at an early age. She has performed with cover and original bands on and off for several years before deciding to take on the task of starting her own group where she can perform music that suits her range and tastes.
Guitarist Mike Blaszkiewicz is an accomplished, virtuoso who holds a Master..s degree in classical guitar performance from Wayne State University. He has traveled the world performing and has played the local scene extensively with several groups, including world music stalwarts Troubadours, of whom he is a founding member.
Guitarist Mark Victor honed his chops on the local rock scene. He has recorded and gigged with several original groups and now brings his unique approach and sweet tones to Third Wheel.
Bassist Sean Bondareff is a diverse and dedicated musician. He has shared the stage and studio with many of the area..s best musicians in his career, including indie rockers Leaving Rouge, blues master Howard Glazer, Latin grooves with Troubadours, pop guru Pat Brennan and as a founding member of roots-rockers Dusty Libido.
Drummer Keith Ryan has been rocking the kit since his marching band days at Southfield-Lathrup High. Having played the college scene extensively in the late 90's-2000's and the metro Detroit club scene since, he is as solid a performer as there is.
These five musicians bring this talent and energy together as Third Wheel to entertain the masses with their covers of some of the greats and lesser knowns, including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Knicks, Curtis Mayfield, Janis Joplin, Wilco, Gnarls Barkley, Coldplay and Bob Marley.
