  • Bio

What does Amozen mean? To answer the most frequently asked question (second to: "How do I pronounce the band's name?") All four of Amozen's members met and became friends during high school. They were all musicians whom, despite being into similar music, never had the thought of playing together. It wasn't until early winter 2005 when a couple of dorm room jams led to more serious compositions. Abruptly after playing a song later titled A Moment of Zen, the existing members (comprised of Blaine LaChance on guitar/ vocals, Iain White on guitar/ vocals, Big Matty Pendris on bass/ harmonica and Matt Dulude on drums/ percussion) had found their name. After a brief discussion sparked by the question "Why the hell didn't we do this sooner?" "Amozen" began playing at various bars, dorm rooms, apartments, private parties, theaters, and eventually releasing their first album at Vermont's own Higher Ground, appropriately entitled "A MOment of Zen" indicative of their band's name... clever right?.. Since forming in 2005, Amozen has shared the stage with such acts as Braddigan (formerly of Dispatch), Rhode Islands hit Rock/ Indie band Zox, and many others. For those looking for a description of Amozen... the best one they could come up with is: "a blend of personal lyrics with an impassioned reverence for multiple genres of music, including alternative, reggae, jazz, rock, pop, and blues, along with a taste of improv that grows stronger every time they occupy the stage. Built on love and appreciation for music bred long before they met, the band formed under the philosophy "dig the sound you've found...
