Rakija is fruit brandy that is produced by destillation of fermented fruit. Its alcohol content is normally 40% , but home-produced rakija can be stronger (typically 50% to 60%). Prepecenica is double-distilled rakija which has an alcohol content that may exceed 60%.
Rakija is considered to be the national drink among some of the South Slavic people. Common flavours are slivovitza, produced from plums. Fruits less commonly used are peaches, apricots, apples, pears, cherry, figs, and quinces.
Normally, rakia is colorless, unless herbs or other ingredients are added. Some types of rakija are kept in wooden barrels (oak or mulberry) for extra aroma and a golden colour.
It is usual to drink from special small glasses which hold from 0.3 to 0.5 dl.

GRAD is a measure for content of alcohol in the drink. 1 GRAD = 2.5 % of ALCOHOL
So, 40GRADI is 100% ALCOHOL, theoretic impossible, but…
