40Love is the premier up and coming Hip Hop Soul group out of San Francisco, California, consisting of female vocalist / emcee Haze, emcee G-OFF, producer / emcee Mikos and dj / producer The Whooligan. The crew exhibits a youthful vibrance that enables their live show, as well as studio material to be full of energy and inspiration. 40Love's music and real-life concepts are light-years ahead of their time; one listen is not enough to fully digest the message these young musicians work to convey.
40Love's first album release in 2007, Advantage, gained both praises and accolades from their local city peers to industry heads alike. Internet outlets such as cdbaby.com crowned their freshman release as the Best Hip Hop / Hyphy Release in 2007. The album featured Lunar Heights frontman Jern Eye, HBO Def Poet Rafael "A.D." Casal, Frisco based emcees Dread and Malik of Aquarius, and George Watsky of Invisible Inc. Advantage the album, as well as the highly successful release party confirmed 40Love's entry in the local music scene and left many ecstatic for the next release. Advantage was an independent release and pushed well over the expected amount of ''out-the-trunk" units.
The sophmore album, BANGERANG!, which is releasing in February 10th, 2009 will not only be an exponential improvement of the first LP, but will cement the group's respect in the global Hip Hop community. BANGERANG! is a highly energized statement of the world's current state of affairs, featuring high profile artists Black Spade of OM Records, Bay Area street legend The Jacka of the Mob Figaz, underground pioneer L*Roneous, Sole Vibe Music Group production team Keelay and Zaire, NYC based soul star Jesse Boykins III, Youth Speaks Poet Denise Wallace and Malik of the group Aquarius. BANGERANG! can be defined as one word- imagination. The teaser release party for BANGERANG! in early November gave the people in attendance a taste of the group's new music and simply, outlook on life. NBC Bay Area Entertainment, along with VIMBY.com and various other photo journalists and reporters documented the festive night and we're excited to learn about 40Love's upcoming shows and projects.
Apart from completing BANGERANG! 40Love has been involved and is currently working on new material with many other artists. G-OFF and The Whooligan were recently featured on Mushroom Jazz 6, the Om Records release by DJ Mark Farina. Track 11, "The What?" is the featured track on Mark Farina's new mix and is currently gaining thousands of plays on OM's myspace page and iTunes charts. mikooliganziland is a production project also currently in the works by Mikos and The Whooligan. Both G-OFF and Haze are in the process of completing solo albums with production from 40Love and various other producers.
