The band, 40 pts. consists of three previous members of Harmonic Tribe...Micah Nelson on drums, Lukas Nelson on guitar, and Tato Melgar on congas/percussion. Merlyn Kelly is on bass. They have created a whole new kickass sound, similar to the Tribe, yet something entirely their own. Their sound could best be described as a mix of Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Santana, the Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers, and Los Lonely Boys, to name a few. They've played several shows on maui, including Charley's saloon in Paia, and the Maui Music Festival 2006, among others.
The band was also just in Austin, TX. playing at the four seasons hotel for the world famous 'South by Southwest' music and media festival. They were there to launch the release of the new indie record label Pedernales Records, founded by Willie Nelson and producer James Stroud. 40pts. is the first band to be signed by the label!!! They are, at the moment, finishing up their debut album which will be released this summer, so look out for it! There are some raw samples on this site for you to enjoy.

Saw you guys in Texas @ Willie's place. Kick Ass. I was the chick near the front in the Purple shirt during Willie's bit. You prob. don't remember, but I was there. ;) Kicks Ass Guys!
I saw you guys in Kettering, OH. Awesome music!! Way better than that crappy guy who came on after you, he was obnoxious. "I want you to want me around" was really good, but my favorite song was the one where Tato picked up the megaphone and started spouting off in (cuban?). I don't know what he was saying but it sounded great. What was the name of that song?
One Love & a big Rasta shout out to the 40 points band. The sounds and vibes are wicked. Look forward to seeing you @ the Belly Up in San Diego. Respect, Rainmaker
