Bio
.............. ..For Immediate Release .. ..March 2, 2009 .. ..MEMBERS OF THE BLASTERS, SOCIAL DISTORTION, THE JONESES, .. ..TOP JIMMY AND THE RHYTHM PIGS.. .. ..UNVEIL NEW BAND.. .. ....PAGING BETO...... .. .. ..Group Set For Month-Long Residency At The Redwood.. .... Los Angeles, CA – Southern California has a new blues band in town but this one comes loaded with history as members from local, iconic groups such as The Blasters, Social Distortion, Top Jimmy and The Rhythm Pigs and The Joneses unveil their latest incarnation - Paging Beto. .. Founded by Bill “Buster” Bateman (drums, The Blasters), Pat “Frenchie” French (vocals/harmonica, The Joneses), Jonny Wickersham (lead guitar, Social Distortion), The Mighty Gil “T” (vocals/bass, Top Jimmy and The Rhythm Pigs) and Justin “The Killer” Slater (rhythm guitar), Paging Beto’s sound is a mix of early blues and soulful rock n’ roll. “There are a lot of good bands in Los Angeles,” says Bateman, “But I feel that we fit right in with the top elite blues bands that are currently playing, recording and making a living.” .. Says French, “We’ve played everything from punk and rockabilly, to swampy blues and it was time to put all that energy into one place. We’ve got more fire and brimstone than you’ll hear anywhere.” Paging Beto debuted at Dave Alvin’s “Dog and Pony” benefit show in September 2008. According to co-vocalists French and Gil “T,” their mad love of music allowed the longtime friends and collaborators to start the band. ”I’ve wanted to play with these guys for a long time,” says Wickersham, “And I’m very honored to have the chance to do so.” Adds Slater, “We have the best drummer in the business.” .. Paging Beto is scheduled to play a few shows in March before officially kicking off their month-long stint this April at Downtown L.A.’s Redwood Bar, a popular venue known for booking residencies with notable acts. “We are old dogs with even older tricks,” says The Mighty Gil “T,” “And everybody knows, old guys don’t fight fair.” ..
