Terms like "Ethereal", "Dream pop", "Ambient", and "Angelic Voices" have all been used in describing the mysterious sound of Love Spirals Downwards. While none of these names completely capture the essence of their sound, each describes some quality of their beyond-language music. And "beyond language" is a good starting point; their female vocals largely transcend lyricality, while guitars swirl and spiral with bright atmospheric textures from a place beyond words. Listening to Love Spirals Downwards lets you leave words, and the world, behind you... ...... .."Dissatisfied with current trends and styles in much of today's pop music, our music is a unique blend of what we find to be aesthetically pleasing. To us, our music transcends any one pigeonhole categorization into one particular style or genre. Elements from East Indian music, psychedelic rock, and ethereal - among others - can be found in our music. In creating atmosphere, we meld "exotically" tuned and processed acoustic, as well as electric, guitars with female vocals and percussion. In breaking with more conventional vocals, we completely abandon the use of language as a conveyor of thought and emotion in hopes that the entire musical piece, instrumental and vocals, work as one artistic expression.".. .. -- Love Spirals Downwards, 1991 ...... .."LSD shine with the sort of music that once made the Twins so exciting: Droning, quivering layers of electric and acoustic guitars, minimal drums and just the right amount of synthetic keys. And the voice. Perry's lovely vocals are soft with a cathedral ambience... There's no need to bemoan the Twins. Their old banner has been picked up and held high by a pair who will not let it drop." .. .. -- Michael C. Mahan, ..Alternative Press,.. 1996 ...... .."An achingly beautiful, enchanting maelstrom of emotion that fuses honey-dripped vocals, delicate guitars and electronic backdrops of sedate, swirling synthesizers, effectively capturing what Halstead and Goswell missed in their transition. Slow, somber, and beautiful beyond reason, this LSD just might be the burgeoning leader of another full-on ethereal rock revival... .. -- M. Tye Comer, ..CMJ,.. 1996
