"I'm a drama guy. I mean, I like to have a good time, too. But, you know, I'm not Will Smith. I'm not Jamie Foxx. I'm not Martin Lawrence. I'm not those guys. I mean, they do that well. There's something in their blood. But I definitely want to get out there." ~ SHEMAR MOORE
"My dream before acting was to be a professional baseball player. My uncle played semi pro for the Red Sox. I could run, but I was throwing 93 mph coming out of high school. I got drafted by Baltimore and Boston so I thought I had a chance to play at Fenway Park. But I got drafted out of high school, and my mother wasn't having it. She was like, 'You're not going to just play ball, because if you get hurt, you're going to be out of luck. So, you're going to school, you're going to get that piece of paper, and then you can do whatever you want to do.'" ~ SHEMAR MOORE
"'The Young and the Restless' was like high school for me. 'Criminal Minds' is college. Now, I'm looking foward to feature films, which will be graduate school." ~ SHEMAR MOORE

"My mom is my partner in crime, as I like to call it. I was raised by her. I didn't have my daddy around. She had a free-spirited, passionate way of living. To see her thunder go a little dim because of Multiple Sclerosis -- this is a woman who played tennis and ran -- and now she struggles to walk." ~ SHEMAR MOORE

SHEMAR FRANKLIN MOORE was born an only child in Oakland, California on April 20, 1970, to a father of African American descent, and a mother who is Dutch, Irish-French Canadian.
Soon after moving to Denmark to shelter the infant Shemar from racism, his parents split up. According to Shemar, his father "drifted in and out of the picture", while he grew extremely close to his mother.
After living in The Netherlands, Shemar and his mother, who had a degree in mathematics, moved to Bahrain in the Persian Gulf where she was a teacher. When he turned five years old, Marilyn relocated again to her hometown of Boston, where her fears of racism were quickly realized. "It was a complete culture shock for me," Moore says. "It was the first time in my life I heard the words 'n----r' and 'chocolate'.
Shemar and his mother finally settled in Palo Alto, California in 1984, however, his father remarried and now lives in Japan. Shemar attended Nueva School for 5th and 6th grades from October of 1980 to June of 1982. It was a private elementary school in Hillsborough, California which requires an IQ test for admission. After elementary school, Shemar moved on to Menlo Junior high school, another private school located in Atherton, California which is not far from Palo Alto.
Shemar is a graduate of Gunn High School in Palo Alto, CA.
He attended Santa Clara University on a baseball scholarship, where he majored in Communications. While in college, he began modeling to make ends meet, and when a shoulder injury ended his baseball career, Shemar decided to move to New York City, where he enjoyed a successful stint as a print and runway fashion model. Shemar was spotted by an agent who recommended him for the role of 'Malcolm Winters' on "The Young and the Restless."
In 2000 Shemar won a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series. In 2001 Shemar made his theatrical debut in the gospel musical, "The Fabric of a Man." Shemar has also won 6 NAACP Image Awards for his role as 'Malcolm Winters' on "The Young & The Restless."
In 1995 Shemar was featured in the music video for "How Many Ways" sung by Toni Braxton. Shemar has been linked romantically to Toni Braxton & Halle Berry.
His credits include: The series, "Birds of Prey", the movie "How to Marry a Billionaire," and hosting the 1999 Miss USA Pageant.
His feature film credits include "Butter", "Motives" , "The Brothers", and "The Seat Filler."
Shemar currently portrays Special Agent Derek Morgan in the CBS drama, "Criminal Minds."

Several years into his acting career, Marilyn, Shemar's mother, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Shemar told People Magazine: "She's always been superwoman, but now she's met her kryptonite."
During the summer of 2006, Shemar discovered his own way to join the movement and move us closer to a world free of MS, when Criminal Minds crew member and professional cyclist John Hatchett approached Shemar about putting together an MS 150 Bike Tour (now Bike MS) team.
The Criminal Minds team grew to 15 members, including Shemar's co-stars Mandy Patinkin and Thomas Gibson. Hatchett helped the team gear up for the ride, by organizing training sessions with stationary bikes during lunch breaks on the set. On Oct. 21, 2006, Shemar and his team rode 100 miles, raising more than $20,000 for MS research and programs.
Shemar told People: "It was a challenge: 'Can you ride 100 miles for MS?' and my answer was: 'I'd RUN 100 miles for my mom!'"
Kimle tanışmak isterim: "I admire Brad Pitt, honestly, just because of how he started and the obstacles he had to overcome to have the career that he's had. Now at this point in his career he's getting the credibility that I think he deserved a long time ago, but you had to get through that shell that he has."~ SHEMAR MOORE
