Since 1988 Ronnie Mack has marshaled forward the California roots scene with his legendary Barn Dance. In the early years it was a weekly event and the watering hole was the World Famous Palomino. Ronnie's gracious hosting ranged from newcomers and future grammy winner Lucinda Williams to pioneers like the Collins Kids and the beloved Janis Martin. When we lost the world-reknowned landmark in '95 the Barndance was reborn at Jack's Sugar Shack on the infamous corner of Hollywood and Vine. Tuesday nites became a celebration for musicians. Connie Smith, Robert Reynolds, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Woodruff were not uncommon in the audience or on stage! When Jack's Sugar Shack closed in 2000 the unstopable scene moved to Crazy Jack's in Burbank and became a monthly event. When that venue was sold the scene moved to the Culver Saloon, then the Cat Club, then
Crazy Jack's (now Joe's Great American Bar & Grill), then Thunderbird
Saloon (formerly called Blue Saloon), and then El Cid..Ronnie Mack's Legendary Barn Dance has now returned to the former Crazy Jack's location in Burbank AND HAS MOVED TO THE FIRST MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH. JOE's GREAT AMERICAN BAR & GRILL (formely Crazy Jack's) is located at 4311 W. Magnolia Blvd Burbank 91505 between Cahuenga Blvd and Pass Ave. 818-729-0905 (Venue info/TorchPresents- www.danceatjoes.com/barndance)
It is evident to all who know and love him that Ronnie's tireless efforts promoting the local roots scene is solely for HIS love of the music.
In 2003 Jim Hollander filmed a documentary "First Tuesdays at Ronnie Mack's Barndance" featuring performances and interviews with Dwight Yoakam, Dave Alvin, Rosie Flores, Big Sandy, James Intveld, Mike Stinson and more. Available at www.hollandermedia.com.

We get invitations on MySpace all the time, but haven't figured out how to do the "Event Invitation" thing, so if anybody has any advice, we'd appreciate it!
Hey everybody!!! What a great time I had at the barndance last week!!!! Once again thanks for letting me perform and thanks to all the guys in the band for doing an amaising job on my songs. Thanks!!! Hope to do it again some time! Stan
Thanks for having us out to play the Barn Dance last night, Ronnie. It was an honor to be a part of such a great line-up. Congratulations on a great night at Joe's Great American Bar!
Hi Ronnie- Sorry for posting this as a comment instead of sending an invitation…we’re too stupid to figure out how to send an event invitation! The Ridge Route Romeos are coming to Ronnie Mack's Barn Dance on Tuesday, July 7 for a set of songs about drinking, bad decisions, and degenerate behavior. We'll be featuring special guests Marty Rifkin on steel and John Groover McDuffie on guitar. Fun for the whole family, as long as the whole family is over 21 and not confined to the trailer park by an electronic tracking device! There will be 5 of the finest roots-music bands in LA, with the all-star Barn Dance Band kicking it off at 8:30. The Ridge Route Romeos take the stage at 10:30.
El Cid 4212 W. Sunset Blvd. - Los Angeles, CA 90029 Lookin' forward to seeing you there, and thanks for your tireless support of roots music...Steve
