Louis Spector's Interests
|
| General | I love to paint, write and travel and I believe that life is what you make it, the past is to learn from and not blame. I love to drink a good red wine, Guinness is my choice of beer and I’m a Coffee man, tea is only for when I’m sick. I taught myself how to paint, cook and, believe it or not, read. Education was never my forte but it’s my passion. | | Music | I relax to Enya, become creative with Mozart, ponder life with both Gordon Lightfoot and James Taylor, feel alive with any country music, feel awakend by John Lennon and reminisce to "The Wall of Sound" | | Movies | Star Wars for the father and son revelation. "Good Will Hunting" as I live vicariously through Will. "Rain Man" for the bond between brothers and the estrangement between father and son. "Under the Tuscan Sun" for the possibilities. "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" for the sheer madness of it, and all superhero movies, where One fights for the many and saves the day plus Terminator, Alien, Dead Poets Society, Bicentennial Man and Rocky. | | Television | Boston Legel, Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles, Heroes, Prison Break, Eli Stone, The Mentalist, Pushing Daisies, Survivor, Supernatural, My Name is Earl, Smallville, Ghost Whisperer, Famly Guy and South Park and whatever is on Discovery and Style. | | Books | The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Books on writing, wine and the arts. I tend to read more to learn than to get lost in an adventure, I'll let the movies do that for me. | | Heroes | Not so much a hero but a person that inspired me through my struggle with education: Claudius-the emperor of Rome.
Also Geroge Brand. |

Louis Spector's Blurbs |
About me:
Art came to me quite surprisingly. As a child I had a panoramic view of the neighboring town outside my window. I would spend many hours in front of one of three windows in my room gazing out into the horizon- twilight was my favorite time of day. I also loved the shadows casting over houses on bright sunny days, the sunlight seeping through the clouds on rainy days and the many moonlet nights. I also loved the trees blowing in the wind and the verity of plant life growing outside my window. I got lost in the view and found an escape from my hardships in life. As I got older, I moved out and moved on. The only thing I missed about the house was the panoramic view. Fourteen yeas latter, I took up painting. I had painted back when I was fifteen but it was just something to do in my room. Unable to afford the means to continue, I gave it up a year latter. Also I knew that I could never be that good so I put painting behind me. It would be eighteen years before I picked up another paintbrush, once again needing an escape from the realities of life. Without the panoramic view I turned to my old hobby. For the first six month of that year, 1999, I just painted from an old Bob Ross’s book that I had from when I was fifteen. I kept it thinking that one day I would like to paint again but just never found the time. On my third painting from his book I felt his style flat and limited. I then tried to paint from photographs. One being of the old house I used to live in. It wasn’t as good as I thought it could be. The next painting I did, I got from a garden book. It would be my sixth painting and I called it "The Archway." I was stunned how it turned out while at the same time very impressed. It was like all those years gazing out my window help me understand shadows, shapes and structure.
I don’t know how to paint, I just paint. It’s the child in me needing to find an escape though a panoramic view but it’s the adult in me that creates it. Unfortunately, do to unforseen advents in 2003, I gave up painting and starting writing. Now, with my writing on hold and the unforseen advents over with, I’m going back to an old hobby.
