About me:

Mad Folk presents concerts and publishes a monthly newsletter full of information about folk music and dance events. We are non-profit, supported by memberships and concert ticket sales plus special gifts.

The regular Mad Folk concert series runs September through May. During the summer there are special programs offered such as Folk on State (free concerts held downtown on Saturday afternoons), plus periodic sing-along events and concerts at some of our area state parks.

In addition to official Mad Folk events, some members of Mad Folk host house concerts from time to time and Mad Folk helps to promote those shows. Events other than those sponsored by Mad Folk and house concerts hosted by our members are included in our print newsletter, mailed to all members.

Mad Folk welcomes friends interested in staying informed about folk/acoustic music events in the Madison, WI area! We encourage those living close enough to attend shows to become a member and help support our activities.     We're into "folk music!" What exactly is "folk music," you may ask? This is a very subjective topic open to all kinds of interpretations and folks have probably debated this ever since the term was first used. We do not intend to define it. Our membership is comprised of folks covering the whole spectrum of those favoring "traditional" to those more into "contemporary folk" or "folk-pop" or "folk-rock," even. Some prefer the term "acoustic." We aren't so concerned with the labels.
