About me:
I did not make this myspace to piss off people or to simply antagonize for no reason. I made this page to express my disgruntledness with the local radio of Lubbock, Texas...namely KFMX. I have listened to Lubbock radio most of my life, so I have a reference to when things were definitely better. Over the years, the quality of music being played has significantly changed. I mark it with the onslaught of Bob and Tom Morning Show. As soon as they became the FMX morning show, the music went completely south. Variety is key to any successful radio station, or at least in my ideal world. KFMX proves me to the contrary. I don't know if it is because there is no other alternative in Lubbock, but FMX seems to be thriving quite well, despite the repetitive song play that drives a great song into the crapper. You can only listen to even the greatest music so much. Many of the greats have been significantly overplayed. The classics are classic for a reason, but playing the same 4 songs from many such as Led Zepplin and AC/DC every hour on the hour does them a disservice. Play something different for crying out loud. I hear the same crap over and over and over and over again and it has got to stop. You are losing listeners because of your poor choices for your programming. I'm sure that FMX advertisers would love to hear that many people like myself have subscribed to satellite radio in order to avoid hearing the same thing over and over. FMX has this attitude that they are the best, but when there is no competition, who's to say any different? I hear FMX at work every day and several coworkers have shared my unhappiness. Now we take bets what the new song that will be overplayed will be. So far, I have been right about the new Shinedown's "Second Chance" and Saving Abel's "18 Days". The are excellent songs, but some restraint is required. The best days on FMX are when the listeners call in and request songs like on Two for Tuesday. I think if FMX listened to it's listeners more, they might adapt their programming a little.
I have to say that I truly want FMX to be great once again, if at all possible. Hopefully this page can become a beacon of suggestion so that we as a community might improve our radio.
