Old Black Dog Records - The story so far..... I started Old Black Dog Records initially to promote my own music. In the days before myspace and youtube, where now, anyone can promote almost anything, I wanted to reach a wider audience with my songs and a personal label/website was the only way... The name was inspired by my lovely old black Labrador dog William. The picture on the logo is taken from a painting I did of him when he was about twelve years old and seemed to fit the bill nicely... I’ve produced three CD’s of my own songs now, with a few traditional songs thrown in for good measure. Only one of these CD’s “All in good time” is the first cd recorded and produced solely on the OBDR label, but I plan to re-master or re-record some of my older material, as well as some new songs, for a new CD due for release on OBDR label in the near future... I have a very modest studio with straightforward, no-nonsense equipment, as I tend not to enhance my songs too much with effects and techno wizardry. I think a song with a good melody and meaningful lyrics will always stand up for itself. .. I have recorded a couple of other solo artists and helped them produce demo CD’s, always using their own original material as this avoids copyright or licensing issues. I’ve also transferred old and cherished material from tape or vinyl to CD quite successfully. .. Check out the Old Black Dog Records website by clicking on the banner and let me know what you think. Kathryn and I have been playing together for more years than I care to remember. We like to play un-plugged whenever popssible, or with just a small acoustic amp. LAZY SUNDAY .. ©.. Richard Langridge 2003........ .. This is an instrumental that came about by accident. I was picking my guitar in an open tuning and this little melody came along. I plugged in my trusty old 4 track and put it down. I was happy with the end result, and this is the original version with three guitar tracks and just a little keyboard. I re-recorded it to appear on the album ‘Like a moth to a flame’. The photos accompanying this video were taken one morning as I was walking with my dog across fields near my home in Lincolnshire. It may never win a Bafta but I like it, but then I’m biased! .. .... ...... ..Fire and Rain...... .. .. .. .. .. .... ...... ..You can close your eyes...... .. .. .. .. .. .... ...... ......ALBUMS........ .... .... IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE ...... This was my first album of 9 original songs recorded in 2001. .. .... .... .... LIKE A MOTH TO A FLAME ...... The second album was recorded at Funky Studios, Stickney, Lincolnshire... This was my first attempt at recording in a a professional studio and I had a great time. The album features 6 original tracks... .... .... .... ALL IN GOOD TIME ...... The third album, released in 2005 was the first produced solely by me on the Old Black Dog label. There are 10 tracks and it's a mix of original songs and some old traditional favourites...
