4-4-2 Music is a boutique (that’s a nice way of saying it’s really small) music label which also dabbles in visual arts. Originally set up by members of the band Telafonica to release their own music, the label has grown to release a range of different music, both as physical CDs for sale on-line (4-4-2music.com), and as free, downloadable mp3 releases through its netlabel arm (4-4-2music netlabel). We have also just undertaken the task of uploading the complete back catalogue of Australian electronic music legend Andy Rantzen in digital form for the world to consume, so look out for links to that.
The label focuses on music from the electronic and indi-pop fields, and takes great pride in the artwork of its releases. Many physical releases feature hand-made artwork, and all downloadable releases have high resolution, high quality, printable sleeve art.
4-4-2 also organises regular gigs , particularly Just Like Now, a monthly event involving live acts, DJs, VJs and visual artists held at the Mars Hill Cafe in Parramatta, Sydney. There’s a bunch of photos of past Just Like Now shows here if you’re interested in seeing them.
