April's Interests
|
| General | scrabble! watching random movies and generally being a spaz. Travel, AMSTERDAM!! Sitting in huge clogs with peanut, my obese cat, chess, reading too many books, art history/design nerd, getting waaay out of control, cooking tasty vegetarian stuff, and uhh...some other stuff too. | | Music | !!!, broken social scene, tortoise, out hud, mum, luscious jackson, polyphonic spree, modest mouse, cat stevens, Iron and wine, Elvis Costello, PJ Harvey, Old Jane's addiction, Old Sky Cries Mary, ESG, MIA, Willie Nelson, The Pixies, The Shins, Belle and Sebastian, Lali Puna, Lily Allen, Peter Bjorn and John, Jason Collett, yo la tengo, Feist, Bob Dylan, Amy Winehouse, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Tegan & Sara, Mew, Asobi Seksu, Fujiya & Miyagi, and so, so many others. | | Movies | Harold and Maude, 200 cigarettes, Ghostworld, American Splendor, Crumb, Secretary, Being There, lots of random documentaries, and again, so many more. I'm just too lazy to make lists that long. | | Television | Currently obsessed with six feet under, project runway, Top Chef and nip/tuck. And of course the food network is on 24/7. That or the discovery channel. | | Books | I have too many favorites to list...but here's a wee sampling:
The world according to garp and just about any others by John Irving. Another favorite is the Hotel new hampshire. Augusten burroughs makes me laugh like a spaz with occasional bouts of deep thought. Same with David Sedaris. Geek love of course. if only Katherine Dunn would write some more. I admit to a long-standing love of Anne Rice, though her series' get a little tiresome after the first three books or so. The toy collector by James Gunn, as well as Permanent Midnight and Plainclothes Naked by Jerry Stahl are raw and scary but oh so engaging. I like some Tom Robbins but not all..half asleep in frog pajamas is my personal favorite of his. Chrisopher Moore is a new favorite-goofy and dark, a fabulous combination. Anais Nin makes me happy in a very different way than the rest of these. Douglas Coupland is high on the list-microserfs ties with Garp for my favorite book of all time. I'm currently reading lots of memoirs, as there are so damn many these days-most are quite good. | | Heroes | This guy:
Miss you Shawny! |

About me:
I'm a very small animal with a twisted sense of humor.

You Belong in Amsterdam
|
A little old fashioned, a little modern - you're the best of both worlds. And so is Amsterdam.
Whether you want to be a squatter graffiti artist or a great novelist, Amsterdam has all that you want in Europe (in one small city).
