About me:
Christ for the Poor is a non-profit organization which helps educate the members of the communities that we serve, and contributes to the development and growth of these communities. Our focus is to increase awareness of the need for education through active teaching. Additionally, we will provide vocational training as a way to empower the residents of La Chureca. Our Programs are not limited to the La Churecan community but have grown to represent all disenfranchised community members in Nicaragua and Guatemala .

Who I'd like to meet:
Roughly over a hundred and seventy different families reside in La Chureca which is Managua, Nicaragua's City dump. It has become a rallying point in Nicaragua's fight against poverty. Daily one can see the life and death struggle which these people engage that is often lost. The living conditions are terrible. Women and young girls of all ages sell their bodies just so that they can eat. The female population is being destroyed by STD'S and drug use. The most desparate people resort to sniffing glue just to forget about thier empty bellies. Recently, the United Nations estimates that between 35 – 45 % of the Central American population live in gross poverty and extreme want. The countryside is covered with shanty towns that are not fit for human habitation. These shanty towns are littered with disease, feces, and polluted water sources. These people are in desparate need of your compassion.
