About me:
F.I.R.S.T. Contractors is to prepare and increase young adults’ opportunity for long-term success after foster care and/or juvenile incarceration.
Our guiding principles are that:
Every young adult possesses the innate ability to live and work effectively.
Empowerment is a continuous process of the application of various activities, situations and lessons learned used as fuel in the process of employability and life.
Employability is a continuum of actions and behaviors essential to successful employment and overall life management.
Supportive environments will increase every young adult’s ability to be successful in the continuum of employability and life.
Our objective is to use the introduction to carpentry and inventory control as vehicles to promote transferable life skills. We believe that the combination of building wood products and understanding the components of entrepreneurship regarding its distribution presents great opportunities for young adults.
Who I'd like to meet:
We are looking for folks who would love quality products, enjoy supporting efforts to keep our children off the streets and care to see an education in work.

- That 500,000 children and young adults across this country are in the foster care system for reasons of abandonment, abuse, neglect, hardships and/or overall lack of support?
- That approximately, 20,000 young adults, annually leave the foster care system without vocational or life management skills, or a realistic plan for long-term success after foster care?
- That this lack of preparation for young adults who are preparing to leave the foster care system is Detrimental?
- That because of their circumstances, teenagers leaving the foster care system are at a greater risk of being unemployed, unemployable, homeless, or worse, transferred to those other public systems e.g., welfare or criminal justice system?
- That 30% of the nation’s homeless are former foster children?
- That 80% of prison inmates have been through the foster care system?
- That children in foster care do not have traditional support systems, that many of us take for granted?
- That F.I.R.S.T. Contractors Inc. was established specifically to prepare young adults for greater success after foster care?
- That you too can help young adults prepare for long-term success after foster, by supporting F.I.R.S.T. Contractors Inc.?
