We play old-time traditionals and new-time originals..... My other band is the velvety "folk noir" vocal trio ..Sometymes Why... This is me plus Ruth Ungar and Aoife O'Donovan. We sing our original songs with dreamy ukuleles, glockenspiel, piano and many tiny instruments that fit in a suitcase. We have one independently released album and are about to put out our second record on Signature Sounds in March, 2009..... For five years, I toured professionally and taught dance with the amazing ..Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble.., and I still do some flatfooting in the Uncle Earl show and also in Kung Fu clogging video made by Uncle Earl (look to the left...). .... I'm proud!...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .... .... ..INSPIRATIONS...... So these two beautiful 8-year-olds came up to me at the Greyfox Bluegrass Festival this summer and told me they had learned "Crayola" for a school talent show. Fans of old-time music might know me as a member of the "all g'Earl" stringband Uncle Earl. We have two albums on Rounder Records, each produced by a superstar: Dirk Powell produced She Waits for Night and John Paul Jones (of Led Zeppelin) produced Waterloo, Tennessee. We play old-time traditionals and new-time originals.

My other band is the velvety "folk noir" vocal trio Sometymes Why. This is me plus Ruth Ungar and Aoife O'Donovan. So these two beautiful 8-year-olds came up to me at the Greyfox Bluegrass Festival this summer and told me they had learned "Crayola" for a school talent show. I suggested they come sit in with my band Uncle Earl at our Dance Tent set and sing harmony on the song. But when I saw them perform, they were so good we realized they needed to sing lead and we would back THEM up... Check this out. Their names are Michaela and Janet (and they've now ended up as guest stars on the new Jumping Through Hoops kids' mental health songs album...).
