A good deal of my ability comes from risk and self education. I have had the pleasure of taking lessons with some pretty fine drummers with the most notable being Ray Garraway. Ray has shown me a different perspective on rhythm all together. I am now in a stage of "rhythmic renovation" with my playing and my ears and it makes me feel like a kid again. In many ways I am back tracking to look at rhythmic ideas that were right under my nose and never acknowledged. I have made it a point to carry myself with confidence without ego. Pride without pomposity. I believe I can learn from drummers that are not at my level. I think if we all shut the fuck up for 2 seconds and listen to something we don't want to hear....we can learn something. I like the word fuck. I don't overkill it or anything but I do use it. If you are one of those Christians who has completely misunderstood your own religion (and there are many of you) my advice to you is to keep movin' right along 'cause I got nothin' for you. Unless that is you want to debate the same sex marriage thing. Then I have a lot of words for you and a lot of them are fuck. You have no right to fuck around with basic principles of humanity despite what the fucking bible says. And no I am not gay! I like to mountain bike. And when I say mountain bike I mean dropping off of cliffs and going ridiculously fast. I like to work out too but I don't take it too seriously. I also have a wee bit of love for throwin' a frisbee around. I'm telling you now, if you're stressed go play frisbee with someone. You would be surprised how much it helps. I am obsessed with and constantly conflicted by the duallity of man. How in order for people to be completely open minded and non-judgemental they must become judgemental and softly bigoted themselves. Drumming is the way I make my living and it's also the thing I take the greatest pride in (this would upset Buddha). I play in four bands and also do contract work outside of that. Oh by the way. It's kind of a musician thing but I smoke pot. Deal with it. I looooovvvvveeeee to hit the mutha fuckin' chronic! My life and playing would be aimless with out the support of my girl, Vicki. She understands more than anyone (sometimes me included) the sacrifices necessary to be the kind of musician I want to be. I only wish everyone can be with someone like her. It's liberating.
