About me:

TO DOWNLOAD OLD SHOWS: *just go to the playlist for the show you want. They're in the blog section and they're organized by date and featured artist. At the beginning of each playlist is a web adress. Myspace blocks the link, so just copy the URL (cntrl-c) and paste it into your browser (cntrl-v). At the site, enter the 'captcha' at the top left of the page and click 'download file'. Click on 'regular download'. A pop-up ad will appear annoyingly, close it. The download will be in MP3 format and you can do whatever you like with it. Thank You.

Fridays at 7pm US-Mountain Time. Listen at radio1190.org or tune in to 1190 on your AM dial!

Brought to you by DJ Ben, "The ME Generation" is a weekly radio show on 1190am. The show focuses on New Wave and Post Punk music from the 1980's. Each show features a certain artist from the period, usually a one-hit wonder. They are explored in-depth and hopefully shown in a new light. At the end of every show, there is a segment called "The ME Generation 2000" where we play songs from 80's artists that they've released in the new millennium. It's surprising how many are still recording and how high the quality of the music is. If you have a suggestion for an artist to be featured, please leave a comment.

"The ME Generation" was created for radio by DJ Ben. Originally, "The ME Generation" was the name of a best-of-the-80's compilation CD set that he created. Each volume of the collection was thoroughly researched and compiled and each featured one artist alongside other songs from the 80's. The CD set was adapted into a radio show, and each show has a corresponding volume of the CD set. For example, the first three shows: Charlie Sexton was featured on Volume 61, Kim Wilde was featured on Volume 9, and A-ha were featured on Volume 42.

The name "The ME Generation" comes from the phrase used to describe the materialism of the generation who came of age during the cold-war panicked, reaganomic 80's. The name should not be confused with "My Generation", because it isn't. DJ Ben was not alive during the 1980's.
