| General | Art is my world! I'm not claiming it just residing there. I am into most visual mediums, from the click of a button to having sticky fingers. Creating Music is one of my greatest joys and indulgences. Singing. Writing Scripts and Making Movies would be my ultimate goal in life if making them weren't so bloody expensive to do. The process of character development either while acting for the part or writing for it is fascinating. And is there anything better than great Food? I love to cook and want to learn more and more and more and more and more about cooking techniques. Gooooood Coffee is a must!! Not a sports nut - but tennis and golf are my sports - even though golf is a game for Masochists!!! I used to be proficient with a samurai sword - but have forgotten more than I knew, However I'm still pretty mean with an mango or a banana if I have one on hand. Eyes can cause me to melt into a transfixed state of no return. I love to learn new things and enjoy teaching the things I know. Most of all: I love to spend time with my extraordinary daughter who is the most gifted and beautiful person I've ever known. Oh Yeah... Monkeys!! | | Music | Music is my first drug of choice. In fact, I'm quite a junky. I like music that is obscure, atmospheric, rhythmic, groovy, melodic, dynamic, lush and gritty. Music has evolved, split, and merged back together into many interesting styles, creating an open pallet for almost anything to be possible today. I enjoy the artists that are willing to experiment and take chances. I believe David Bowie is still further ahead of the curve than anyone else can see. I find Bjork irresistibly fascinating and it's possible I may be in love with her. Robin Guthrie is like musical valium to my ears and I probably learned what phrasing is from Andy Summers. I sight Radiohead's the Bends and Portishead's Dummy (thank you Tricky) as being the most important records of the nineties. We are still riding on their ideas in the 2k's and I am waiting for something new to break. I like Jazz a great deal and I don't mean the soft easy-listening crap that makes me want to go out and buy a g... g... GUN!!! I do like Baroque, Classical, and Romantic composers along with some Minimalist composers - but haven't had the attention span to focus long enough to... My band profile "Europium" is my first friend. I posted a Blog to list artists I enjoy because there are too many to put here.
| | Movies | Movies are wonderful breaks from reality (even when writing them). I especially love the ones that stay with me for a few days with them on my mind. Even though I can turn off the critic in me and enjoy mindless entertainment, movies generally must be smart and not insult my intelligence. I believe the foundation of a good movie is a strong script. It is the architectural blueprint, for which every other aspect of filmmaking works from. I have posted a Blog listing some filmmakers and movies I like.
| | Television | Other than watching movies, my TV is usually used for unwinding and turning off the brain. There are some good programs I enjoy when Im not slaving away on some project. David Letterman is the perfect way to end a day (well there are better ways - but I wont go there;-). About me:
I am a cross between Curious George and Jareth the Goblin King.
I am often quiet and live inside my head, but what a wonderful place to be!! It is filled with a circus of inspiring creativity. I must be producing in order to be truly happy. When the circus monkeys tell me to take a break, I enjoy socializing with my friends, making new ones and having a good laugh.
