A Synopsis
After being labelled a 'Terrrorist' by the London Evening Standard, the last place I expected to end up working was Britains newest nuclear power station, Sizewell B......
But every eighteen months, Sizewell B, near Leiston, Suffolk undertakes a Refueling Outage, during which time the fuel rods are removed and the reactor is maintained to ensure its safe running. At such a time, Sizewell needs staff - lots of staff - and they can't afford to be too picky....
So, short of anything else to do, for 48 days, I left behind my idyllic life of nature solitude in a caravan in the middle of nowhere, and went to work as a Kitchen Assistant at Sizewell B
My aim was to wash dishes and then, when no one was looking, investigate the SAFETY and SECURITY of what appeared to be a rather dangerous nuclear death trap 80 miles north of London.
The result of this experience is 48 Days in the Nuclear Family
48 Days in the Nuclear Family is a piece of not so social history.
Indeed, despite it's best efforts to remain serious, paranoid and telling like any good investigation should, the story can't help but swerve into recounting the rather ridiculous habits and features of the strange and unique people who worked at Sizewell, whilst also flashing back to my former life as a 'Butterfly Terrorist'.
Along the way, the narrative recounts tales of desire, drugs, investigation, power, security breaches, politics, myth and much more - We're not talking fantasy or fake sex noises here, but thick, real life hydrocarbon rich controversy, the like of which is sure to make you scroll the page.
So, until i get a publisher sorted out, the story will be published HERE as a work in progress and you're invited to read it for free.
New edits and installments will be added until the story is complete and/or is published - I should however warn you that this project has been on the run for more than 4 years and I’m currently a little low on inspiration – Updates are therefore infrequent.
