The Louisiana Film Museum, a 501(c) 3 corporation (Federal Tax I.D. #27-0163361) , is a special place where interested consumers can visit and learn more about the history of movies that have been produced in the State of Louisiana. Since Faust was first filmed in 1908, over 400 major motion pictures, documentaries and television series have been produced using our beautiful State as the backdrop.
There is an impressive list of major motion picture and television stars that have played their role in contributing to Louisiana’s film industry. Some of these stars include Bette Davis, Henry Fonda, Paul Newman, Marlon Brando, Denzel Washington, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Roger Moore, Julia Roberts, Dennis Hopper, Cicely Tyson, Elvis Presley, Dennis Quaid, John Goodman, Jessica Lange, Richard Pryor, Jackie Gleason, James Spader, Dolly Parton, Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Costner, Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Yul Brenner, David Niven, Jimmy Stewart, James Mason, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Darryl Hannah to name just a few.
The Louisiana Film Museum will feature on permanent display a time-line of each of the major films produced in Louisiana, along with video clips, still photographs and cinema posters of the majority of these films.
The Museum will also feature a display of actual props and costumes that will rotate on a quarterly basis, on loan from private collections.
The Museum will become an exciting destination for tourists during the day.
The Museum will act as a classroom for local area students interested in learning more about the role that Louisiana has played in the history of film making.
The Museum will also work with local area schools to encourage students to participate in annual film making projects.
In addition, the Museum will be offered as a unique venue for private and corporate events during evening hours.
The Museum will use our website to promote the State of Louisiana as a film industry destination, as well as to sell individual and family memberships, corporate sponsorships, event tickets and promotional items to raise Museum operating revenue.
