Open Art & Poetry Slam
Intertwines Spoken Word and Fine Art on One Stage. The Cypher blasts off the show with an eclectic open mic for for those who wish to showcase their skillz. In addition, The Visual Artist Featured that evening, paints, draws, sketches, sews or scuplts during an explosive Spoken Word Competition. After the Spoken Word winner is awarded $100.00 an Art Auction takes place.

Everyone will miss the Cypher Movement especially me. You know we go way back to the time you was living in Texas to Florida to back home in Jersey City. I can not thank you enough. You gave me the courage and comfortability to read poetry in front of crowds. I love you, my sister from another Mister. If you ever need help in your fitire endeavors, you know how to contact me. Brennan Gallery at the Theodore Conrad Rotunda in the Brennan Court House features an exciting exhibit where local African-American artists collaborate with artists from Africa. Titled, “Afusion,” the show shines a light on the socio-cultural connections of African artists throughout the Diaspora.
Seven artists participating in this exciting exhibit emigrated to the states from Nigeria, Liberia, Senegal and Sudan with four local artists from Jersey City and Newark. Papa Gora Tall, Ibou Ndoye, Eddie Moore, Omar Saeed and Badria Ali, Ade Tugbiyele Sedita, Nyugen Smith, Gregory Charles, Michael Markman,Darin De-Field and Noelle Lorraine Williams.
