Karina Denike is a singer, songwriter and performer from the San Francisco Bay Area. She grew up in England and moved to Oakland California as a teenager, where she quickly immersed herself in the music scene, performing regularly, and releasing her first record at age 18. Though well-versed as a co-writer and collaborator, after releasing a string of records with bands Dance Hall Crashers,( MCA, Pink and Black), Jezebelle ( Warner- Discovery) and others, she is currently working on her first solo recording. Her original compositions are made up of snippets of cabaret torch songs, doo wop drama, Eastern European lullabies, crackly records, sailor songs, and girl group harmony. She is currently playing live, performing her songs on Chord Organ and Vibraphone, with special guests James Frazier on Fender VI, Aaron Novik on Bass Clarinet, Michael McIntosh on Piano/keyboards, Lily Taylor on vocals, and Eric Garland on drums. .. .. Recent Appearances include Noisepop 2009, Tokyo Japan (2009), Hotel Cafe ( LA), Yoshis, Bimbos, Amnesia, Slims with Martha Wainwright, The Great American Music Hall as Part of Cabaret Verdalet, Yerba Beuna Center for The Arts, KALX radio. She also holds two Popular residencies in San Francisco. .. .. *Karina Denike's harmonies were featured on Tony Sly's record "12 song program" including the song "Via Munich" which was a FEBRAURY 2010 SPIN.COM DOWNLOAD .. .. *Karina Denike's group Dance Hall Crashers was just featured in the London magazine NME in March 2009 .. .. **Bands that Karina Denike is in or has been in **-The Cottontails, Dance Hall Crashers, Mr.Lonesome and The Bluebelles, Jezebelle, Stara Nova, Mixtape, 8 Legged Monster, Ralph Carney's Serious Jass Project . She has performed extensively throughout the U.S. in addition to tours in Europe, Japan, Australia, and Mexico.
