Here is what I am working on. Op Ed News has just published my article entitled: “PAPERLESS ELECTRONIC ELECTION UPHELD BY GERMAN SUPREME COURT.” http://www.opednews.com/articles/1/PAPERLESS-ELECTRONIC-ELECT-by-William-J-Kellehe-090907-39.html Two losers in an election to the Bundestag applied to that body for “a scrutiny of the election.” They argued, inter alia, that the high-tech process was undemocratic. The Bundestag denied their claim. Then they appealed to the Federal Constitutional Court. After a careful review of the issues, the High Court upheld the election. I suggest that the legal arguments in this decision pave the way for Internet voting in Germany, and by implication, the US and the world. Also, I am writing a book on how Internet voting can be used as the basis to Super-Democratize US elections. Currently, Big Money controls the US election system. But this can be changed. I have posted chapter drafts on SSRN (see the link below). Take a look at “Internet Voting: The Great Security Scare.” I discuss security, and the history of Internet voting in the US. Also take a look at “How to Organize the Direct Election of US Presidents in a Way which Will Restore Rational Deliberation and Eliminate Costs to the Candidates, Based on Internet Voting” This shows how special interest money can be completely marginalized, and elected officials can be made wholly dependent upon the voters. Uses rank voting. With this process, it would not matter what the Supreme Court rules in Citizens United; the role of Big Money can be so side-lined as to be ineffective in US elections. Indeed, both equality of influence and unfettered speech are possible with Internet voting. There is a chapter entitled “The Original Intentions of the Framers for Presidential Elections.” I also have a chapter on financing the Obama campaign. TO READ one of these chapters click on the Download button on the abstract page. Then a page comes up with a selection of sources from which to retrieve the paper (including universities such as Chicago, Stanford, etc). Click on any of these sources. Then you will be given the option to Open, and read online, or Save to your computer. Please feel free to comment on my work in your own writing. I hope you’ll let me know what you think of my ideas.
