Movies, especially Indy and foreign movies, music, animals, exploring SoCal!
I am deeply spiritual, deeply sarcastic, deeply sexual, deeply sacred, deeply scared and deeply scarred. I am extremely kind, considerate, and have a heart of gold. I especially have a heart for the easily exploitable: the poor, animals, children, and the elderly. I am also wicked and say everything that others think but will not say out loud. I love to have fun! I love to explore life! I love to be outdoors! You can be all those things at once, which some people do not get. Indeed, within each of us lies the ability to be the holiest of saints and the most horrific of sinners. We are all capable of all those emotions, which is why the only judgments that exist are those we impose on ourselves.
I am not a child of the 60€™s but my heart is true to the cause, man. I realize that being a hippie is not just bell bottoms and tie-dye. It is also about the drugs and smelling bad, too!
Alansis Morrisette, Goo Goo Dolls, Pixies, Weezer, White Stripes, The Fray, Afro Celt Sound System. I like almost all music except MOST country and MOST rap. On a rare occassion I will like a country song, and Golddigger makes me giggle!
Movies
Juno, Little Miss Sunshine, The Matrix (which I consider a great documentary), Scent of a Woman, Sling Blade, American Beauty, The Upside of Anger, City of God, Winged Migration (the most beautifully shot movie I have ever seen), The Last of the Mochicians (Daniel Day Lewis in a loin cloth - Yummy!), Dogville, Dancer in the Dark, Life is Beautiful, What the Bleep do we Know, The Big Lebowski, Untamed Heart, Primal Fear, Owning Mahowny, Bowling for Columbine, and just too many to list ... Philip Seymour Hoffman is my favorite actor - so talented
Television
I don't watch a lot of TV, although you would not know by this list!!! 24 is the best show on television. I may soon be hot for Keifer just because I love this show so much. He is like MacGyver on crack. Family Guy is the funniest show on TV. Besides that, I basically watch a lot of HBO and not much else. Bill Maher, The Sopranos, Entourage. My favorite show of all time, the dearly departed Sex and the City. And let me not forget the show written about my life: Will and Grace. JohnEboyIV (the funniest man on the planet) is the tall Will to my Grace.
Books
I am a reader. Too many faves to list, but memoirs are my favorite genre. I currently worship at Elizabeth Gilberts table: Eat, Pray, Love - best book ever! Followed closely by: 'Kabul Beauty School', 'The Year of Yes' by Maria Dehvana Headley - great read, great writer! 'Glass Castles', by Jeannette Walls - what an incredible odyssey and life! 'Operating Instructions' by Anne LaMott made me laugh and cry. 'Me Talk Pretty Some Day' by David Sedaris - God I love that man. I love all his books, but that one was my favorite. 'A Million Little Pieces' by James Frey. Anything by Julia Cameron, especially 'The Artists Way'. That woman is a genius and she has changed my life. I also love books on spirituality like 'I am That', 'The 4 Agreements', 'A Course in Miracles', books by Brian Weiss, Byron Katie, Dan Millman, etc. but sometimes I enjoy reading just for the joy and fun of it ....
Heroes
Gandi, Jesus, John Lennon, Martin Luther King, Jr. Anyone who teaches tolerance and non violence. And when I write Jesus, I mean his message of tolerance for all. I am not referring to the 'my way or the highway' religions that have evolved using his name (Christians) but not following his principals. I can imagine the world that John Lennon wrote/sang about, can you?
And Stewie:
Which Family Guy Character are You?
You are Stewie. All you care about is world domination and killing your mother Lois, good luck with your plans! Take this quiz!
Shannon's 37th Birthday July 4, 2009. Please mute my song before you enjoy this dance tribute to MJ!!!
My beautiful HLP Sister Rain made this video for me with this dedication: I did it for my friend Anna to replace a broken jade butterfly. Anna is an AWESOME and highly evolved soul and she is who inspired this insanity. She helped me come out of one of the deepest depressions of my life with her pure optimism and support entirely free of judgement.
Those words and this video mean SO MUCH to me because she put so much time and effort and filled it with the symbolism of butterflies and rabbits. The Universe was teaching me certain lessons and made sure Tracie was on the phone with me every time!!!! Thank you my beautiful friend for your time and talent!!! You rock my world!!!
Who I'd like to meet: I am treading gently here on the 3rd Rock from the
Sun, trying to find my path and divine purpose in
life, because I am certain that we all have one.
I am seeking to make connections with other searchers
of truth, and people that have spiritually surpassed
me, so that they may illuminate my path and help show
me the way to higher truths.
With that said, I know that there is no higher truth
then what resides inside of you. I am attempting to
spend more time being quiet and still so that I can
access my own inner wisdom. I am also happy to be of
service to those that are still struggling in the
muck. We are all one. Namaste.

As we age we often forget that life is supposed to be fun. When we are young, fun is what we are about. This is somehow lost in the time of our lives.
If we find something that connects us with this lost youthful exuberance, we should keep doing it even if someone tells us otherwise. It is this connection with our youth that I believe will get us though some of the toughest times of our lives.
I hope that you have a great weekend, and a great week to come.
An old saying says “You can not dig yourself out of a hole”. You may not be able to dig yourself out of a hole, but given the right motivation you can propel yourself out like a rocket and reach new heights never before thought possible.
I hope that you have a great weekend and a great week to come.
We are all searching for a peace and tranquility in our lives. Peace means different things to different people. It could mean lying in the sun by the pool, or hiking though the woods, or it could mean finding that beautiful place and being there when no one else is around.
The peace and tranquility that we seek is not really found in any special place at any special time. It is just a state of mind that we put ourselves in when we find such place and such times.
That said, don’t you think that we could also find peace and tranquility in other places and other times? I think that it is possible, and it just takes a little brain power on our part, but it can be done.
I hope that you have a great weekend, and a very peaceful, tranquil week.
What hope do we offer the nuclear race? And what do we do with the nuclear waste? We can’t bury it down, it can’t swim in the sea, So what do we do with this grim legacy? Well I’ll tell you the truth, and I’ll make it quite plain, We can’t shoot it in space, or let it wash down the drain.
So we leave it behind for the kids yet to come, That bittersweet taste of the nuclear bomb.
Well the kids of tomorrow have no words to say For the world we leave and the price they will pay.
Caretakers are we and for what do we stand? For the love of the life on this sacred land.
What hope for the child in this world of ill care Lies deep with the meek on a wing and a prayer, That these Gods will see reason for the land, sea, and air, And the hope in the future for the life that lives there.
Caretakers are we, and for what do we stand? For the love of the life on this sacred land.
What reason for money when you can’t breathe the air? And the oceans and lakes they lay barren and bare, And the streams and the rivers run sewerage and poison With no drink to spair, Caretakers are we, and for what do we stand? For the love of the life on this sacred land.
The ice caps are melting thers holes in the sky, we poison the earth for the sake of a lie, its time for the one and the all standing by to take hold of the reigns and put an end to this crime for we are the meek and now is our time,,,,caretakers are we and for what do we stand,, for the love of all life on this sacred land www. goodisplanetearth.
If you look closely at the waterfall in the enclosed photos, you will notice a distinct difference in how the water looks. The difference is based on the amount of time that the shutter was open. It took me a while to learn this technique of freezing the motion of the water in an instant of time.
Time is something that I have been thinking a lot about in recent days. As many of you know from my update email, I have a lot more time on my hands now that I am working a new schedule. So, of course I am thinking a lot about how to best spend this new found time that I have.
I think that time is like a treasure. We only have a certain amount of it every day. If we waste this precious treasure called time we have no one to blame but ourselves.
I hope that you make the most of every second. Have a great weekend, and a great week to come.
“Ask yourself whether the dream of heaven and greatness should be waiting for us in our graves - or whether it should be ours here and now and on this earth.
There is a question that I have been thinking about a lot this week. What is confidence? As we go through the challenges of our lives our confidence is put to the test. Sometimes we have to do things that are outside our comfort zone. Some people mistake confidence for arrogance. Whatever label you put on it, I think that a little confidence is a good thing to have. This week I am sharing some special photos with you. I am entering the enclosed photos in an art show, and I am confident that I will win at least one award.
I hope that you have a great week full of the confidence that you need to deal with whatever situations you face.
May people often get very wrapped up in there likes and dislikes. Take crowds for example. Some people really detest crowds, and there are those who even fear large groups of people. It is interesting though when you think about it that we humans are not the only species on the planet to have to deal with this problem. If you will look around you, there are many examples of “animal crowds”. That would seem to me to prove that crowds are just a part of the natural order of things.
I hope that each and every member of the “crowd” of people that I send this out to has a great week.
Sometimes in life, we find ourselves “driving in the fog”. We usually don’t know how we got into the fog in the first place. Most of the time, we also can not see a way out. So we drive along aimlessly hoping that it will eventually clear.
Then something happens in our life. We come across a “light” in the middle of the fog, and we follow this light until we can come out of the fog bank. When we come out the light of the sun seems brighter somehow and the day seems clearer then we ever thought possible.
If you are in a fog, I hope that you soon find that light that will lead you out into a beautiful sunny day. I hope that you have a great weekend and awesome week ahead.
