Richard ( guitar, bass, piano bits , flute bits and tuba)
Rod ( guitar, odd organ sounds, vocals)
Kieran (words, vocals, barking, foreign languages)
Influences
60's 70's prog folk/folk/acoustic stuff mainly with a bit of blues/rock thrown in and a dose of latin noodling for good measure. You name it we listened to it.
Apart of course from most 80's chart bands ( what happened then ???) and most 90's chart bands for that matter , not to mention c21st!
Our lyrics were a mish mash of kieran flynn , folk standards and the odd classic poem put to music.
The music, however, is all ours.
Our music and lyrics were more 'influenced' by the landscape and characters of the area where we lived, historical events , poems , mood of light, time of day, beer consumed those kind of things than music. When you listen to music when you are young , you try to have a certain sound or sound like a certain band. We dont try to sound like anyone really , if we do its for no good reason.
We just played songs on acoustic guitars.
We played together for 4 years , although we had known each other for decades. We were a three piece, ermm 'multi instrumental' group , always on the look out for more ( instruments that is , not drugs, sorry). We lived in the ironbridge gorge in shropshire (and partly in London ). These songs were recorded with limited knowledge of technology , in the sitting rooms of our houses surrounded by the usual detritus of life, hence the quality wasn't brilliant.
Just a quick message about Monday nights at The Swan from the organiseres of the open mic night.
Thanks to everyone who has been coming down over the last month, we have met some great new singers, performers and songwriters. The nights have been getting more and more popular and last Monday saw James Nathan host 6 acts to a busy room. Cool.
We want you to know our idea is to have a great night every Monday at the Swan, anyone can turn up and plug in and play from first timers to hardened proffesionals, just bring down your instrument and woo us all!!!
One other thing, if you dont play any instrument or worse, you freely admit to being tone deaf, you can still enjoy our night. Just come down to Ironbridge every Monday and enjoy the music!!
After the first open mic night at The Swan in Ironbridge last night, I am just reminding all you people on myspace about it!! We (Nathan and Quinn) are running an open mic in The Swan every Monday from now on! In order to keep it running we need all local musicians / singers / songwiriters to come down and showcase thier stuff as often as possible. As well as the Musos we need people to come along to listen and support the night, so it would be good to see you here some monday night soon. There isn't much else that goes on on a Monday night in Ironbridge! Thanks to Andy, Laura, Adam and Chris for playing last night, some nice tunes.
