..Hailing from Porto, Portugal, 49 SPECIAL is a Country / Honky Tonk band that was formed in June 1998 by the fusion of the now defunct Rockabilly band The Tennessee Boys and two other musicians from the Portuguese rockin’ scene. Since then, the band have been working on their self penned material as well as bringing their musical roots influences on Country & Western tunes.
They have played all over Portugal, and in Europe they have already done all the major Rock’n’Roll and Rockabilly festivals across countries like Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the U.K. and USA.
During one of their mini-tours across France and Belgium, 49 SPECIAL recorded their debut CD, a western swing/country boogie influenced album called “Corn Bread’s Fred Hideaway”, at Space Mobile Studios in France. The CD was released by space Mobile Records on the 31st December 2002.
Dark Lonesome Road, is still their latest release and it dates of 2004. The album has sold out and it was a tremendous success. The title track of the CD - "Dark Lonesome Road" appears on an American independent movie called “One Shot” and Gito’s brilliant artwork and creativity have been internationally recognized and awarded. On this 7 track CD the band show all their roots music influences, by giving us an incredible variety of styles.
The movie was presented at the 2 following film festivals:
* The LA Film Festival
* The Tribeca Underground Film Festival
Because of its particular design and layout the "Dark Lonesome Road" CD was also presented and enrolled at the following categories and festivals:
* Shortlist at ADC(Germany) - Packaging Design e Best Graphic Design Work categories
* Clio awards (New York) Packaging category
* D&AD Global Awards 2006 (London) Packaging Design e Branding categories
There are a bunch of invitations flying in from promoters of countries where they have passed through but also interest shown by other promoters in Australia and Japan.

TRAILS OF EVIL is a 14 original track CD, that varies from Country Rock to Honky Tonk, from pure Country to Rockabilly. Besides being a novelty among their peers, this album is a remarkable and a much awaited piece of work. The stamp belongs to the Belgium label Grasshopper.

Já podem escutar o revisitado tema "BAR DA GNR", tema nº 2 do EP e que precede às "GUITARRAS DE GUERRA". Este tema já com alguns anitos lavou a cara e foi gravado no inicio de 2009 com novos arranjos, mantendo no entanto todo o carisma que vez dele um dos hinos dos ERVAS DANINHAS. Durante 20 dias, mais ou menos, vão poder entrar no "BAR DA GNR" e buer uma cervejola e morfar uma entremeada e até mesmo apanhar uma carraspana sem ficarem de cana... Dêm gás no volume e acordem os vizinhos... pelo menos aqueles que dormem a sesta ao Domingo à tarde. O "BAR DA GNR" contou com a presença de dois convidados muito especiais, foram eles o Igor e o Arroja dos SHIVERS, que por entre copos de binho e assaltos à sacristia ainda tiveram tempo para uma ida à Sela... ops, desculpem o erro... uma ida à cela.
